Zero to Hero [DEPRECATED]
This topic has been pinned, so it's probably important

Battle Plans. Build a better mod(s).
EDIT #1: Waiting for Extinction DLC, there's probably going to be more core-code changes in its wake. I'd rather not repeat ZtH's history in charging headlong at the inevitable locust swarm of bugs.

... and a wiser backup system. (I had one for Zero to Hero but that was still a single point of failure, and boy did it fail.)

So with the advent of TLC Stage 2 and a fair bit of time to cool off from the eternal churning of Zero to Hero, it's time to start shaking off the cobwebs.

What my current plans are:

Possibly joining forces with Better Dinos.

Kraken1 & I share the same goal of providing quality to the quantity of ARK, and our mods have ended up appealing to similar audiences. We're even part of the same chat-rooms! While there are differences in details and style, we both make/made extensive use of abilities and functions to really seal the deal on a reworked creature.

If that doesn't fall through, then the rebalance element will become Zero to Hero: Repreciated, designed to complement Better Dinos as a sister mod.

EDIT #2: With the way life is going, it's pointing away from Zero to Hero: Repreciated. I'm confident in my ability to deliver stand-alone "set & forget" mods (Custom Creatures and Wasted No More), but not anything with significant upkeep.

Custom Creatures: Electric Boogaloo

Fairy Moth, Kryadon, Mavrodon, etc, are worth being standalone. They wont be a 1:1 restoration of their Zero to Hero counterpart but the idea is going to be preserved. Fairy Moth will be an adorable little heal-bot, Buufet will be the drug-themed oxygen tank, Mavrodon will make you nearly lose your prized wild 145 pachy in the western jungles of ISO: Crystal Isles, etc.

EDIT #3: Big Trike, Anky, and Para were probably the most popular vanilla ZtH creatures. I'll throw those in as variants, higher tier versions of their vanilla siblings.

Some may see expansion or revision - Kryadon in particular is slated to become focused as a creature that gets stronger in lower temperatures.

Some of the custom roster wont be returning however, such as Megalolamna (due to it fulfilling a very specific role in Zero to Hero), and Ancient Leech (which ultimately was more of a boss-monster than a traditional tame.)

If there's an outpouring of interest for a missing creature, that could change.

Wasted Stats No More

Zero to Hero basically deleted food & oxygen, and made wild speed be channeled into something, but that was limited to its own roster of creatures.

What's in the works now is a trio of expanded stimulants that give a creature (and player!) something back for sinking points on food and oxygen, together with a way to channel the invisible, normally wasted wild speed levels into something useful without pushing a speed-leveled pet into something ungodly. (This one explicitly wouldn't affect players since speed is so incredibly powerful on them as is and more to the point, never wasted.)

Oh my god. I can't even tell you how excited I am at the prospect of you working alongside Kraken! It was always my intention to use Z2H with Better Dinos and remap the dinos accordingly depending on which changes I preferred (had a giant spreadsheet of overrides halfway done).

I can't wait to see what you (two?) can accomplish. So stoked.

As a side note: I mentioned this to Kraken as well some time ago, but I would happily give support to a Patreon/donation page for any of these high-quality and game revitalizing mods. I made the most basic of creature mods recently and gained much more respect for the time/effort that must be required.
I don't think anyone would feel like it is wrong to have a means for us to give back a little. Extra booze money could come in handy when something in the mod breaks. :P

So excited. Telling everybody BRB.

In the wake of Aberration, Zero to Hero did indeed have a lot of breaking bugs lol, especially to do with overspawning.

Kraken & I gelled well, we think very similarly on a lot of topics. It's All Quiet on the Western Front right now, but that's just to decompress from ARK.

EDIT: Also, I'm waiting for the Extinction DLC in anticipation of potentail core code changes.
