Lifter cannot do nuclear job
Any chance the lifter could be given the nuclear job so it can plant rods into the reactor? It causes issues when youre trying to place a rod into the reactor but the lifter places it back into the pool because thats all it can do.

yeah i need to do a pass on rimatomics with code to inject all the work types into mechs

i see. no rush or anything, just hope to eventually see a bit more functionality is all. tried to patch it myself but its extremely evident that i have no skills with C#. thank you for responding!

Ah yes, that would be fantastic if lifters could do the nuclear work.

I wonder too if mechanoids might get affected by radiation - not that I want to nuke my base to find out, but it's something I wondered.

Realistically, radiation makes electron-hole pairs in electronics. For "old" electronics that are bigger it's less of a problem, but the smaller and more dense circuits and components are, the more likely a single interaction can cause issues, and the more quickly it would cause issues. I imagine the mechs in rimworld have incredibly dense and complex electronics compared to IRL technology, and would be affected quite a lot unless they were built specifically to mitigate this. Once you start getting into archotech, I imagine it's completely immune, and power cables/large machinery is probably mostly immune. But mechs would probably not be immune, realistically. Simple shielding on the mech could prevent this, or other more creative upgrades like archotech-upgraded internals, self scanning and repairing microelectronics inside, or simply building the electronics much larger and more robust, making a very simple, dumber mech that is very large (and thus slow) but immune to radiation damage. I.e. a huge unwieldy nuclear-only robot.

yes i have radiation damage hediff for mechs, since they are easily replaced it's not a problem

So, can lifter do nuclear job now? I don't see any related work types in it's description.

Maybe... When you have the mod Android Tiers, you could make it so that the tier 1 and 2 wouldn't be Radiation resistant, and the tier 3 could be partialy resistant and the tier 4+ completly resistant, or whatever...
There could be an upgrade, the rimatomics could add for that mod

Radiation Resistance upgrade tier 1-4

---------------
Tier 1 RRu - 25% rad. resistance

Tier 2 RRu - 50% rad. resistance

Tier 3 RRu - 75% rad. resistance

Tier 4 RRu - 100% rad. Resistance

There could be more effects of them, and the cost?

Tier 1 - 10 steel, 5 components, 5 plasteel

Tier 2 - 15 steel, 10 components, 5 plasteel, 10 uranium

Tier 3 - 25 steel, 15 components, 5 adv. Components, 10 plasteel, 20 uranium, 15 gold

Tier 4 - 60 steel, 30 components, 15 adv. Components, 25 plasteel, 25 uranium, 10 gold, 1 (Custom, rimatomics stuff)

To make it a bit expensive
(Configurable, meaning to turn it off, or on)... Just an idea...
