Mannable NPC Turrets

Well, this is one of my first Scripted Entities Mod.

If you haven't read the title of the mod, Players can NOT use these!

A little Backstory on how these were made :

Normal Turret : I would play in Gmod with the Combine Units PLUS Mod and play around with the waves and make a base to defend against the oncoming Combine. I eventually got the idea when I started playing Lambda Wars which had you build a base and defend. I saw mounted turrets that were able to be manned by your units I saw how they did an animation for when they manned the turret which added some realism so I thought, "Why not make this in GMod." And that is how the Normal Turret came to be.

Explosive Turret : I went to a 4th of July (2017) party on July 1st (2017) and saw my cousin, James from 5 years ago (as in 2012). I was showing him my mods I made and the normal turret that I made. James then asked me, "What would you think if you made a turret like that one, but instead have it fire explosives instead of bullet?" I thought about it and began right away to code it. And that is how the Explosive Turret was created and brought to GMod.

Spotlight Turret : Someone in the comments wanted it so I made it.

Sniper Turret : After reworking these, on 5/4/2022 I thought if there were any other guns I could make into turrets and remembered the Combine Sniper rifle that is used in Episode 2. So I started working on it and had to find many workarounds to get it to work properly and was able to for the most part in the end.

This Mod adds 3 types of turrets that NPCs can use.

NOTE : You need HALF LIFE 2 EPISODE 2 in order to see the Combine Cannon ( The Gun for the Explosive Turret ) and Combine Sniper!!!


⇒ 5 Turrets for NPCs

⇒ NPCs do an animation to show they are manning the turret

⇒ Four Turret Fires bullets
⇒ One Turret Fires Explosives
⇒ Two has a spotlight on it that will illuminate in the dark when manned by an NPC.
⇒ 1 ConVar
npc_turrets_explosive_turret_light (0 = disable, 1 = enable)

⇒ You are able to put these turrets on existing Combine Barriers ( like a map and they will spawn there and work. )
⇒ The turrets can only be manned by Human/Humanoid NPCs.

⇒ If the Turret is free and there is an NPC within 2500 units of it and they have no enemies, they will run to it to man it.
