IFA3 Operation Overlord

Description
D-DAY, the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord on Tuesday 6th June 1944. Omaha beach was the most intensely fought after beach on D-Day on June 6th 1944. Omaha Beach was six miles wide – the largest of all the five beaches. The whole of the beach at Omaha was overlooked by cliffs which made attacking the area very difficult. The Americans were given the task of doing just this. The Germans had built formidable defences around Omaha. Rommel had built many of his ‘dragon’s teeth’ on the beach which were designed to take out the base of landing craft – and for good measure, the ‘teeth’ were also mined. Heavily fortified ‘resistance nests’ had been built on top of the cliffs and most German positions were connected by a system of trenches to allow for better movement of personnel. Gun emplacements had been designed to cover the beach.

Facing the Germans were troops from the US 1st and 29th Infantry divitions. The plan was to land infantry troops alongside armoured vehicles – amphibious (DD /Donald Duck)Sherman tanks. Although many of the tanks never reached the beach, the 743rd Tank Battalion actually reached the beach largely intact, and landed at beaches dog green and dog red. Perhaps the worst area on the beach was Dog Green, directly in front of strong points guarding the Vierville draw. You are part of the 29th Infantry division 116 RCT. You are landing at dog green under heavy fire from the cliffs. Joining you will be several tanks from the 743rd Tank battalion who were suppose to land at Dog red and easy green. You are tasked with taking out the german anti tank guns and radio positions. By completing these tasks, the second wave can land and send in vehicle support and reinforcments. Artillary support is on stand by but is very limited. I am going to make a campaign around this mod so please keep an eye out for more missions. This is my first upload to workshop and a quick one but i think its worth it. I hope you all enjoy and please leave any recomendation or bugs in the comments and ill try to help you all out. Altough this mission is designed to be played realistically on coop it can be played single player but be adviced their are NO respawns as of yet. Playing Coop allows you to work as a team with friends to get the job done easier and to stay alive longer. Oh and only the radio operator can call the artllery as i have tried to make it slightly more realistic, this also means that playing coop is a better option as you can have support, a medic, a team leader ect. I will also be regulary updating this mission to make it better, more realistic and overall more fun. Mr Yorkie Update 1- Tasks fixed, Two machine gun nests removed, weather/time changes. Update 2- Diary record added, AI movements paths added, fixed supports, more bodies Update 3- Trench systems and camouflage nets added, more units on the cliffs Update 4- Fire and tracer effects minimized to help reduce lag Update5-landing location moved slightly, custom audio/music added

@WarSloth92 sorry about that mate, I made this mission 2 years ago and since then many new updates have released for both Arma 3 and the mods which seems to have corrupted the mission file.

i been lookin for 3 days and 0% shows up on launcher or anywhere in game and yes its all subscribed and down loaded itss all there other than being able to play

@dpd29 im glad you enjoyed the mission, I made this over 2 years ago and unfortunately as the mods have updated the mission has become more and more bugged and the FPS has dropped. Feel free to share this mission and you can edit it as much as you like :) im happy people are still enjoying it

I have improved your mission to play with high FPS , single player and cooperative, and I have made the second part with the part 1, I have added some scripts to ambiental sounds . I have added some positions, trenchs and I made this a long mission. do you mind if I Share the missión, I will tell I have used your mission and I can put you as the first creator with me.
