A faction from the Honor Harrington books by David Weber. This offshoot of the human race fled Earth after a great war with the help of a wealthy individual and settled in the Manticore system. They expanded both ground and space based infrastructure on and above the three planets of Manticore, Sphinx, and Gryphon. This infrastructure and a content populace gave them a good chance at winning the wars with the other main political power in the quadrant, the People's Republic of Haven. They emerged victorous and now look to the stars to see opportunities to colonize, or conquer.
