FYI, for the Smith and Wesson 908, you can fix its ultra shineyness just by going to the materials (materials\models\weapons\v_models\def.hubb.sandw),

open both of the VMT files with notepad, and delete the line that says has:

"$envmap" "env_cubemap"

Easy as that!
