Linkable Storage

Beskrivelse
Features
Allows containers (including ammo loaders) to be linked with each other.
The following can be linked with all items with the tag "container" or "locker".
  • Supplies Cabinet
  • Medium Steel Cabinet
  • Diving Gear Cabinet
  • Large Steel Cabinet
  • Secure Steel Cabinet
  • Medicine Cabinet
  • Toxin Cabinet
  • Ammunition Shelf
  • Railgun Shell Rack

The following has been extended to link also with the tag "container" or "turretammosource":
  • Loader Base
  • Chain Gun Loader
  • Coil Gun Loader
  • Flak Cannon Loader
  • Pulse Laser Loader
  • Railgun Loader

The following can be linked with all items with the tag "container" or "turretammosource" (this refers usually to all the Loader items).
  • Ammunition shelf
  • Railgun Shell Rack

Tips
Use the lock position function of storages to lock the position.
Otherwise the screens might move a lot especially if you connected many storages.
After some gameplay we have noticed that "Lock position" does not work consistently and may cause shifts in window placement.
So with simple networks (e.g. groups of 3) this is fine to use, but I would advice against complex networks (cabinets are part of multiple groups).

Detailed info
Mechanism
This mod uses the feature that vanilla Barotrauma already has, i.e. "linkable" and "allowedLinks".
These features by default can be set up for e.g. fabricator or deconstructor to be linked with cabinets.
This can be done in the submarine editor by clicking the fabricator first, and then while holding space click on the cabinet.

Linkable
"linkable" is a feature defined in the backend, but can be indirectly noticed in-game in the submarine editor.
If the "Allowed links" info is displayed (shown at the top of the item info in orange), it means that "linkable" is turned on.
If this is not displayed, the setting "linkable" is turned off.

"linkable" thereby allows you to make a link from the item A (with linkable turned) to item B within the submarine editor.
Weirdly enough, item B does not necessarily have to have "linkable" turned on, however this results into a pink line.
The different colors of links (derived from observations/playtesting) mean as follows:
  • Pink line = invalid connection and won't do anything (so far I can observe).
  • Green line = valid link, thereby (usually) activate some specific item related function, examples are:
    • Oxygen Generator can be linked with vents to spread oxygen
    • Coilgun loaders can be linked with double coilgun to link the ammo to the gun
  • Purple line = valid link, share some storage related UIs (e.g. being able to see cabinet content while crafting in fabricator)

Allowed Links & tags
If the allowed links are specified, you will see with what it can be connected to activate some functionality.
To see in-game in the submarine editor which items can be linked, you have to look at the "predefined tags"-field.

Mod Placement
Please take note that the changes overwrite the items as a whole. So any mods that changes the above items in any way will be overwritten.
So if you want to make use of this mod, be sure to check if you have any mod that changes settings for the above items. Otherwise you can put it this mod at the bottom safely.

can you use this ingame while in the campaign?

So far I know you can only link items in the submarine editor.
You can copy the submarine and link them as you like and repurchase them afterwards and set the price as low as possible (since there's always some minimum submarine price).
