Description
OVERVIEW
This is a small mod that makes some changes to the Nowheraki SWAT team, updating various facets of the squad - mostly based on my own preferences so it may not be for everyone.

Please note that compatibility wise this mod overwrites a lot of files related to the SWAT team so is unlikely to be compatible with any other mods that touch on the same files, unfortunately this includes the Camo Selector mod.

Some of the changes are weapon related, based on being a bit more accurate in relation to weapons used by the real world equivalent of the Nowheraki SWAT. Some are gameplay related - I never use shields so they're gone for example.

I particularly wanted Militia to be more useful so you can now invest more of your doctrine points into turning them into (still very) budget assaulters. They're still reliant on working with the real SWAT team though, one doctrine buff will make your Militia fire more disciplined and accurate bursts when they're close to a SWAT unit. Another gives them short term rate of fire and aim time buffs when an Assault or Sapper unit breaches a room - the idea is you can send them in all guns blazing. Sometimes this works really well, other times it doesn't...and don't try it if the room has a hostage or HVT in it...

I also wanted to make the SWAT thematically loud and aggressive and also make their AK weapons more viable hence the changes to the AKM and AKMs.

CHANGE LIST
Aesthetic
  • SWAT units now have a different set of names and use different portraits to the Militia. The Militia continue to use the default names and portraits whilst the SWAT team use appropriate Ranger portraits.

  • The SWAT Assault class now has two different possible skins - the new one is rocking a short sleeved SWAT t-shirt.

  • The single SAPI plate armour now has it's own model (for both SWAT and Militia units).

  • The SWAT helmet has been replaced by a lower tech looking model.
Gameplay
  • 7.62 AK weapons now get the suppression ability, they're still not LMGs but you can dump a magazine through a curtained window if you like. This is fun and feels on brand for the SWAT team. Damange is also very slightly higher to ensure these weapons remain viable.

  • The Sapper can now equip the bolt cutters and breaching shotgun.

  • Battle Honours have been reviewed - helmets cost less but some US weapons are now behind BH unlocks.

  • The Uzi has been removed though the Militia can now pick the AKM instead.

  • Vulcan replaced with the VHS-K2.

  • APC-9 replaced with the MP5A3.

  • HK21 replaced with the PKM.

  • Shields are now gone!
Doctrine
  • Removing shields meant the Doctrine tree could be reviewed and the space freed up made use of. There is now a "Support" branch providing more buffs for both LMGs and Militia. A couple options are borrowed from the Rangers but some detail on the new doctrine nodes:

  • Militia Basic Training - Dedicate resources to drill your Militia contingent, improving their conditioning, increasing their suppression resistance and encouraging them to make better use of cover.

  • Militia Extra Training - Further drills for the Militia with basic weapon handling instruction help them to shoot and reload faster and more effectively.

  • Watch And Learn - Militia armed with AK weapons will fire more effective and accurate short bursts when a SWAT team member is close enough to keep them in line.

  • Nowheraki Aggression - You don't have time to teach them everything so harness the natural aggression of the Militia instead. When breaching doors the Militia will enter aggressively and hose down everything in sight (this one is fun).

  • Strongpoint - Your men train to use LMGs more effectively, improving accuracy and follow up shooting when set up behind cover.

  • Additionally Reload Fun will now reduce LMG reload time. Note that a couple of previously 2 level Rifle nodes have been reduced to 1 level slightly reducing the improvements available to other classes to make up for the Militia buffs.
