Opis
A set of Yugoslav SA-342 helicopters for the "We Were Brothers” modpack, centered around the Yugoslav Wars


VERSION: Beta 0.1
To-do before final release:
- Fix small model errors, mostly in the interior
- Add AI versions of the helicopters that the AI can use better
- Fix anything reported in the comments


Important notes:

With controlling the helicopter:
- To take off: increase thrust to the maximum, wait 1 second after it hits full throttle, then pull up. The heli will shake but it'll stop eventually. If the helicopter turns abruptly to the side while taking off, wait another second before pulling up next time.
- To land: dive down, decrease the throttle all the way, and land as you would with a plane, keeping it as perfectly level as possible.
- To hover: decrease the throttle to the red bar and wait. Turning the helicopter should slow it down faster.

Possible Questions:

Q: “Why do the textures look like crap?”
A: Although everything is easily fixable, I am only one guy which is why I’m going for speedy “good enough” additions so I can focus more time on the large amount of maps and missions I plan to make. Model fixes will happen over time, but I'm not planning any texture rework in the near future (maybe after every mission is done)

Q: “Can the AI use these?”
A: Kind of. They can attack enemies on the ground but they fly in a very zig-zag-like pattern, leaving them very vulnerable to AA (also, they can't take off. If you really want the AI to use them, make sure their spawns are placed high up in the air). I am working on adding AI versions that behave more like actual planes that will be exclusively for the AI.

Q: “Are you going to add more helicopters?”
A: Yes, but not to this pack (except for the aforementioned AI-compatible versions). The Mi-8 and Mi-24 are planned for several factions in the future.

@ShogunofJapan You can't port the map just like that, but you can port the props: all one needs to do is remake the terrain with the ER2 map tools and then place the props on it. I've added some of the houses from the mod to my prop pack (with much better textures) and I'm going to add more in the future (especially the apartment blocks for Sarajevo). However, I still prefer looking at Google Earth + historical images for reference as opposed to copying the map from the mod. The only one from the mod that I may draw inspiration from is Vukovar, when I get around to it.



@RedWillow1917 The AH-64 is going to be added to a vehicle pack for the "Liberation" expansion in the future, and I don't have plans for the Littlebird. However, I'm going to make a guide with pictures showing the parameters I used to make these helicopters so others can make whichever one they want. I'll reply here and edit the description with a link when it releases.

Awesome, also question, is there a way to port maps from the original bf vietnam mod to easy red 2? It would be awesome to see them redone in this game.
