It is a roleplay weapon, too powerful to use in the vanilla game.

This is a scaled-down version of the "Space Battleship Yamato" Wave Motion gun mod.
The rapid-fire energy-charged railgun has been converted into a shotgun, creating a pseudo-area of effect (AOE) attack.
The irradiation time with continuous fire is about six seconds with a fully charged battery.
With autofire, it fires for about two seconds every time the battery recovers 30%.
