[1.10] DNFC - Dynamic Names, Flags & Colours 1.3.6

Description

07.10.2025

Hello everyone!

Today marks the release of Update 1.3.6, the final major update of the 1.3.x cycle. This update completes the reworks across the Balkan and Eastern European regions, rounding off the series that began alongside the National Awakening DLC.

Bohemia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Galicia-Lodomeria have all received a full rework, including new flags, dynamic nation names, and updated map colours — all fully available across supported languages. In addition, the Polish Kingdom flag has been updated, and the Republican flag for Brazil has been adjusted for improved accuracy and consistency.

Beyond Europe, Manchuria and Mongolia received a light rework focused on subject status adjustments to better reflect their historical and political situations. Alongside this, a new nation — Beijing — has been added and can now be released, provided China does not currently hold its capital there.

Thank you all once again for your continued support throughout the 1.3.x update cycle — and as always, hitting the like button is greatly appreciated!

Summary – Updates 1.3.1 to 1.3.5

The 1.3.x update cycle has been developed alongside and after the release of the National Awakening DLC, focusing on the Balkans, Central Europe, and Eastern Europe — regions most influenced by 19th-century nationalism. Each update brought new reworks, flags, dynamic names, and map colours to make these nations more authentic and visually distinct.

Update 1.3.1 introduced a complete rework of Austria and its formable Austria-Hungary, including a brand-new set of flags, dynamic nation names, and map colours — all available across supported languages.

Update 1.3.2 turned attention to the Ottoman Empire and its Balkan sphere, reworking the Ottoman Empire itself along with Moldavia, Wallachia, and Serbia to better reflect their shifting political and cultural identities.

Update 1.3.3 continued the Balkan overhaul, bringing full reworks to Greece, Bulgaria, Albania, and Bosnia, complete with updated flags, dynamic nation names, and map colours.

Update 1.3.4, the first hotpatch following the release of National Awakening, focused on Hungary, Transylvania, and Croatia. It also adjusted the Austria-Hungary formation trigger, so its flag and colour change now activates when the Dual Monarchy focus is enacted, rather than when Hungarian becomes an accepted culture.

Finally, Update 1.3.5 expanded the project into Eastern Europe, delivering full reworks for Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Romania, and Poland, continuing the regional modernization in line with the new DLC mechanics.

Throughout these updates, all content has remained fully localized across supported languages, ensuring a consistent and immersive experience across the reworked regions.

This mod is a direct continuation of Otto's Dynamic Names, Flags & Colours, a foundational mod that brought dynamic political and cultural identity into the game world. First uploaded to the Steam Workshop just weeks after the game’s release in 2022, Otto’s mod became one of the most downloaded and respected immersion tools in the community. It introduced a flexible system for renaming countries, recoloring flags based on ideology or culture, and enriching the visual identity of nations across the map.

After nearly three years of steady development, the original project was discontinued in early 2025. This mod now carries that legacy forward — modernized, expanded, and actively maintained.

This mod dynamically changes the flags, names, and colors of in-game nations based on their current government type. By adapting the visual and textual identity of countries to reflect political shifts—such as regime changes, revolutions, or ideological transformations—it adds a rich layer of flavor and immersion to the evolving political landscape.

Whether a country turns communist, theocratic, democratic, monarchist or experiences a revolution, you’ll see its flag and colors update accordingly, while country names adjust to match the new government’s character. This creates a more vibrant and responsive world that visually tells the story of your campaign’s shifting power dynamics.

This is far more than a simple reupload — it's the official successor to Otto’s original work. Rather than starting from scratch, this mod carefully builds upon Otto’s core framework, preserving its structure while adapting it to meet modern standards and expectations. The focus is on restoring functionality, improving performance, and preparing the system for robust, long-term development.

These improvements form the backbone of what’s to come — ensuring this successor isn’t just a preservation of Otto’s vision, but a platform for expanding it.

Is this the mod that changes the color of protectorates based on their suzerain's color? I think it would be best to provide a game rule to adjust it. After all, the vanilla approach—where only puppet states change color to distinguish between two tiers of vassals—makes more sense.

Korea has not yet received any revisions from me, but this will happen in the future.

Really great mod. It seems that the brazilian republican flag is using the monarchy flag as base, but in the real republican flag the yellow diamond-shape is smaller, not touching the sides of the flag as it does in the monarchy flag. Minor detail. Thanks for the great work!
why is this mod 3gb

I really like this, but I'm not a fan of how Joseon starts with the Korean Empire flag. Any chance for Joseon to keep using the Joseon royal standard until it becomes the Korean Empire?
