I did park my small little ship and registered myself as insurance if I misclicked something so I wouldn't have to start over from the beginning when I inevitably fell to my death.

If you mean the energy wall blocking the big light source on the opposite of the corridor, that cannot be disabled, you have to swing or glide over to it.
For anyone else that struggles with this, the ship doesn't need wings or engines, just a helm and a core, you'll go slow, but you'll get through it.
The energy-wall is only there to prevent you grabbing that light source, you can swing or parachute over to it.
The whole island is doable except for that one stand-alone house right now.
Don't attempt without the upgraded glider, it's impossible without it.
