The Carnivorous Carnival (New Hamlet Quest)

Description
"Flames on the horizon, sulfur in the air - the Carnival has come to town!"

------------------------------------------
Backstory
The Carnivorous Carnival originally began as a set of monster concept designs drawn by the prolific Darkest Dungeon modder S-Purple, called the "Fiend Festival". While S-Purple was unable to work on said concept due to the Black Reliquary consuming his time and other resources, he gave permission to EbonyBetty to complete the mod in accordance with her own vision. It was here that the name of the concept was originally changed from the "Fiend Festival" to the "Carnivorous Carnival". Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond her control, EbonyBetty was forced to abandon the Darkest Dungeon modding scene, bequeathing the Carnivorous Carnival to Rubber Duckie to finish.

Unsatisfied with the simple Hamlet quests which EbonyBetty had planned, Duckie quickly began plans for a full revival of the Fiend Festival as a new dungeon in both Darkest Dungeon and the upcoming overhaul mod Black Reliquary. In the meantime, he felt he owed it both to EbonyBetty and to those who supported her (financially and otherwise) to complete her vision for the Carnivorous Carnival, as close as his resources and the constraints of Darkest Dungeon would allow.

Mod Contents
After week 50, and once the player has at least four level 6 heroes, there is a chance that the Hamlet will be visited by the Screaming Troupe, a group of monstrous clown-like assassins who want to drink, bathe in, etc the blood of your heroes. These ex-humans are lead by an Animal Tamer known as the Marvelous Mushnik, who must be eliminated to disperse the remaining Troupers. Much like Wolves at the Door, ignoring this assault will result in the hamlet sustaining damage to its buildings, and retreat leaves a random hero behind. Completing the quest will reward you with two unique boss trinkets.

Really good mod. The normal enemies are done really well, especially the jack in the box, I loved his gimmick

Sadly, when I got the event, my only level 6 heroes were a vestal, crusader, maa and leper. And then I got to the permanent shuffle. "Uh oh". Focused the beast master. By the third death I realized "maybe I should attack the beast" and only then was my leper shuffle kicking in the way it should have. Reynauld ended up dying, my leper was 190 stress, maa on 170 and vestal on 140. I had to alt f4 to prevent a complete heart attack party wipe. And as I retreated, my maa died as well.

"Oh hey it's a circus, I probably should go with a dancing team comp" so thats on me. The boss could be of reasonable difficulty, I wouldn't be able to tell since it countered my team comp. Though, since I still had fun, it's a testament that the mod IS well made, I'd just suggest some sort of clue to bring a dancing team or one that doesn't mind being out of position.

Thank you for your feedback, Snicks! In the main dungeon the Animal Tamer will be reworked so that A) it is clearer that he is immortal and B) you actually have some incentive to attack him. I will not say more than this to avoid spoilers.

I really enjoyed this. The mobs are all bulky enough to force longer fights than usual, but I appreciate the (relative) restraint in their damage output and capabilities to balance that out. Boss was also a blast - permanent shuffle is a remarkably silly idea that I was lucky enough to be running a full team of characters that shoved themselves to the front with all their moves against.

My only real feedback is that it could be a bit clearer that attacking the beast tamer does nothing. I wiped him out twice figuring it was multi-stage before realizing I had to beat up the giant animal and it wasn't just a meat shield.

I will fix asap.

I don't think the event is supposed to be set as unique, now that you can actually postpone the quest, meaning if you ran away the first time the quest showed up, it will never happen again.

@alexschulzweil You know what, I absolutely agree. The stress isn't meant to be the main challenge or gimmick of the fight, so I've reduced it.

Regular enemys are nice, but the boss is insane. the horror it generates is far to high and long ether reduce it to two targets or half the amount

@DerpyPanda yes, that is a visual bug. The stumble is meant to be a permanent feature of the boss fight, but unfortunately when setting it to permanent it doesn’t say in game that it is permanent for some reason.
