First, check your heading on the compass to make sure you know the ideal direction of travel depending on target location. The goal is to aim and head the shortest distance towards the orbital path of the target. Launch then jettison side rockets at 20000km. Begin turn to first directional band, and gradually towards horizon/equator as quickly as possible keeping altitude at 160-200km Periapsis on the "Orbit Panel" to achieve max speed and gravity assist. You should be flying horizontal at this point and your altitude should be increasing at a slow but steady rate with your speed visibly multiplying in the "Orbit Panel".

When you achieve escape velocity cut engines but don't jettison the 2 upper stage side tanks of the craft, these will keep your burntimes optimal for interplanetary maneuver so its not worth it to trade Delta V in for the tanks at this point.

Expand solar panels, turn on lights and your good for your injection burn!
