If the previous solution didn't resolve the issue, you might want to navigate to the Garry's Mod game directory at 'Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\cfg' and locate the 'autoexec.cfg' file. Within this file, input the command 'mat_specular 0' to see if it rectifies the problem
