British Rail Class 89

The Class 89 is a prototype built by Brush for British Rail in response to a specification for a high-speed electric locomotive. The spec. changed while the loco was being built, as permanently-coupled rakes of coaches and locos were needed instead. However, tech from the 89 was used in the Eurotunnel locos and the Class 92
The loco was taken in and out of service a few times between 1987 and 2001, partly due to loco failures. In 2006 the loco was bought by the AC Loco Group and is currently being returned to running order. It is planned to run with LSL for 5 years.

The model is available from 1987.

- Some models are unpowered, since the 89 spent some of its life being dragged.
