Portugal Improvements

Description
Olá! This mod aims to improve and try to fix the inaccuracies of Portugal in Victoria 3.

Goverment Changes:
  • Added National Guard to Portugal. (They existed till 1847)
  • Replaced oligarcy with wealth voting. (The Liberal Constitutions created a bicameral system based on the British upper and lower houses. The lower house was voted on by citizens with a minimum wealth requirement)
  • Replaced religious schools with public schools.
(While it is understantable why paradox choose religious schools due to what happened in practice irl, the government mandated public schools in every country for obligatory schooling. Problem was lack of funding, that allowed the church to continue to dominate. But this can be represented by a lvl 1 institution and having clerical educators in universities.)
Tech Changes:
  • Added Stock Exchange
  • Added Napoleonic Warfare
  • Added Cental Banking
  • Added Central Arquives
  • Added General staff
Other stuff:
- Added custom buildings for Portugal (made by @purechaos thx<33 for contributing)
- Extremadura starts with a level 1 university to represent the university of Coimbra.
- Increased Extremadura trade centers from level 1 to lvl 3. (Lisbon suffered a huge decline after the loss of Brasil but level 1 is underplaying it, Lisbon still had commercial influence, it wasn't a nothingburger)
- Added a port in Portuguese Gujarat. (PDX why isn't this fixed yet?)
- Added 26 coal resource to Beira (Most of coal production was in the north due to just being better quality, rendering the south reserves useless. Sadly the game doesn't differenciate good and bad coal so I guess Alentejo will remain nevertheless since the game approachs is to represent all reserves.)
- Increased Beira potencial wood production from 5 to 7.
- Increased Portugal arable land in Extremadura and Alentejo by 10 (30->40 and 25->35). (Portugal arable land feels criminally underestimated compared to Spain, so I'm still being very conservative here)
- Added Tajus and Douro river state traits. (15 infrastructure).
- Added to tajus river estuary state trait. (The same as natural harbor buffs).
- Portugal now starts with an obsession on fish. (Bacalhau e sardinhas!)

Companies
- Changed Companhia de Moçambique so it's not the worse company in the game:
Replaced rice farms with sugar plantations
Made logging camps one of the primary buildings of the company
Added coffee as a potential building for the company
Replaced both colonization buffs with 15% plantations throughput
Removed the prestige grain from the company
Added:
- A Wine Company, Douro it can produce the famous Porto Wine as a prestige good!
- A Glassworks Company, Vista Alegre, it will produce a Vista Alegre Porcelain as a prestige good. ( For the portuguese folks the porcelain will look familiar)
- "Companhia Nacional de navegação" (CNN). It can build shipyards, ports and trade centers, with the potential of military shipyards. It can produce prestige merchant marine, and prosperity modifiers are -25% convoys cost of port connections, 25% more trade center capacity. This companany is also burocratic type.
- "Conservas de Ramirez" is a fish canned fish company, so it can own fishing wharves and food industries, with the potential for whales. It produces generic prestige fish, and the prosperity is 15% food industry throughput and -10% mortality rate.

I tried making Vista Alegre a starting company, since it was founded before the game start. Idk how you do it, it fails everytime I try, so yeah, if you know how please help me xD.

⭕Possible Future changes:⭕
- Add unique companies to Portugal.
- Check how accurate Portugal starting buildings are.
- Map changes to Portugal, these include resources changes, city placements, to even adding new states.
- Adding state modifiers.
- Visual map changes. Portugal just looks so flat when it's very hilly, it should look more similiar to england in visual terrain north of the Tejo river.

➖As of right now, I dont have plans to create flavour or journal entries, as much as we would like the pink map journal entry. Who knows, maybe I change my mind after pdx makes the dlc and butchers all the content.
This mod is based on all the suggestion on this thread in pdx forums: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/portugal-is-for-some-inexplicable-reason-missing-the-napoleonic-warfare-tech.1661814/
If you got any suggestions please, always provide somekind of source for them and either put in that pdx forums thread, or create a steam discussion section for them. Steam comments aren't that nice of place to check and discuss things.

If you end up using some of the stuff in this mod for yours, please provide credit<33

I've incorporated the changes to states in this mod into Somewhat Historical Resources + Some Other Mods Compatch , which integrates together the changes to resources, arable land and state traits by a bunch of mods

1- Ir para C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Victoria 3\game\gfx\map\city_data\city_types\default_city.txt;

Pretendo continuar a tentar no futuro.
