Compatible with Crusader Kings 1.17.*

This is an optional addon/submod for Battle Graphics. However, this mod can also be used without using Battle Graphics mod. This mod just includes some additional graphical adjustments that i personally like to use when playing with (and without) Battle Graphics mod. I am just sharing how i personally like to play CK3 with this mod. You can turn this mod on and off at any time and it's also save-game compatible.

  • Graphics only mod => no gameplay changes!
  • added two additional zoom steps for zooming in closer (incl. adjustments for other parts of the code that are dependent on certain zoom levels)
  • slightly downscaled army+travel units on map (-30% --- together with the two additional zoom steps you can zoom in much closer when it comes to unit graphics than before even with the -30% downscale of units)
  • additionally downscaled travel unit (tour-unit graphic) in order to be more in line with army unit graphic scaling
  • removed zoom-in and zoom-out effect that made units bigger and smaller on the map depending on the zoom-level
  • downscaled and sometimes completely reworked border graphics. borders will look cleaner and thinner
  • downscaled travel markers and movement arrows + added opacity creating a cleaner map
  • slightly downscaled holding selection circle
  • reworked some post effect volumes
  • slightly downscaled horse and sheep models on the map (which does better fit with rescaled army unit graphics)
  • improved horse and sheep textures (more immersive less saturated colors and better lighting)

Is there a smaller version of this mod that only includes some of it's parts?
  • Yes, there is a ZSM LITE version of this mod available, that only includes the feature that army unit models and travel unit models will not change their scaling when zooming in and out (which is included into this BG ZSM submod). The LITE mod of this ZSM mod has no other graphic features like smaller unit scaling overall, adjusted border graphics and so on.

Thx!This list is so large that I think maybe a separate page should be given to incompatible mods? Or put it in the front?This may save a lot of time.However, your work attitude is really great!!

BG ZSM (this mod) is not compatible with better camera zoom because both mods are reworking the same files and code and features are overlapping/conflicting. therefore i recommend to use either one or the other.
PS: you can easily find out which mods are compatible with BG and BG submods like BG ZSM if you take a look at ❓ Compatibility List . better camera zoom mod is also mentioned within that list of mods and i marked it as incompatible with BG ZSM :)

I must first commend you — rarely does a map critique arrive wrapped in verse so searing it could roast a pig on a winter’s night. Truly, your rhymes slash deeper than any jagged edge I could ever render.

Alas, I confess: yes, I murdered the borders. I strangled them with a vector tool at midnight, whispering, “Cartography is dead — long live chaos.” The tents lean drunkenly because, like all great artists, I believe symmetry is tyranny. The horses appear deranged because they have gazed too long upon the new map and seen horrors no stallion should behold.

But fear not! Your impassioned plea will echo through the halls of my modding dungeon. And perhaps, one day, you will notice the borders are still there (just less visible)”

Oh, BG Graphics, what have you done?
You murdered the borders, you killed all the fun.
The map's now a blur, a soulless disgrace,
Like vomit on parchment—a visual disgrace!

You promised us "better," but delivered pure pain,
With jagged edges and a color so plain.
The tents all look crooked, the horses deranged,
Like some drunkard's sketch—so poorly arranged!

And why, cruel modder, did you slaughter the lines?
The borders are gone—just chaotic designs!
No realms, no divisions, just mush on the screen,
A map for the blind, or some feverish dream.

So take back your "zoom," take your "scale," take your mess,
