Autumn Begonia: Under the Auspicious Cloud

is a historical mod for Hearts of Iron 4, set in the turbulent years of the Chinese Warlord Era, that follows the conniving warlords and scheming revolutionaries who etched their names in Chinese history. A successor to the popular Minor Scenario: Warlord Era, our team is proud to present this project to you. Starting in 1919 - the beginning of the Chinese Warlord Era and the start of the May 4th Movement, prepare to discover the obscure history of the warlords.

In the 0.1 Beta – Enter The Three Dragons, you can play as one of the three major cliques which dominated the political landscape of China at the time:
The Anhui clique, led by the ambitious Duan Qirui and his political club.
The Zhili clique, a group of militarists headed by the general Feng Guozhang.
And the Fengtian Clique, led by the “King of the Northeast” Zhang Zuolin. Unite China under one of these warlords! Or try to, at least...

By dawn on May 4th, 1919, Chinese students flooded the streets of Paris and Beijing, protesting the injustice of the Paris Peace Conference. Despite shedding much blood for the Triple Entente in the Great War, Chinese pleas to be treated with respect and dignity on the international stage have fallen on deaf ears. Duan Qirui and his Anhui Clique invoke the ire of the intellectuals, as they collaborate with the Japanese. Feng Guozhang, head of the Zhili clique, counts his days, wishing to realise his fleeting dream of peace with the South. In the North, the Old Marshal Zhang Zuolin takes his first steps in his plan to take over China, eying the province of Jilin and intending to remove its unruly leader Meng Enyuan. The future of the Middle Kingdom remains unclear, but one thing is certain: China’s destiny will be fraught with violence and destruction.

Bugfixing:
A common issue is the game crashing on startup or after country selection. We suggest reducing your UI scaling or adjusting your resolution.

If you miss a scripted peace deal; for example, if you capitulate the Guomindang as the Anhui Clique but get a peace conference, trying reloading the save from before the capitulation and capitulate the tag again until you receive the scripted peace deal.
