The Old Realms (TOR) is a total overhaul mod aimed at bringing Warhammer Fantasy Battles, from the tabletop to Mount & Blade: Bannerlord. We are currently in the early stages of our work, an ‘early access’ if you will, in which we are slowly populating the world with our overhauled factions.

Within the current Steam Release version of TOR, we have the Vampire Counts, several Empire-state factions, Bretonnian-dukedoms, including Mousillon, bringing Vampire visuals for the players. Additionally, the most recent update brings the Wood Elves to the fray through the Asrai and the Eonir. Further major features include combat magic, such as summoning the undead or casting fireballs, as well as the ability to place battle cannons are two major features present for both the player and Ai. The mod also brings forth several career paths and various tweaks to the game. All on our custom-made campaign map!

We highly recommend you read our Manual for our mod before you play! It provides you with a thorough overview of careers, magic, the factions and game features. Most of your questions will be answered here!

Installation Instructions:
  1. Unsubscribe from our previous mod, Core, Armory and environment
  2. Subscribe to all required modules for our new release: Core, Environment and Armory.
  3. Make sure you also download Bannerlord Harmony mod ( version 2.3.3 ) from the link below or subscribe to it on Steam, it is a prerequisite module for ours
OR
  1. Download all the files from our ModDB page: https://www.moddb.com/mods/the-old-realms/downloads
  2. Download Harmony version 2.3.3 from Nexus Mods: https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/2006?tab=files&file_id=41535
  3. Place the extracted files in the game's "Modules" folder

When launching the game, use the following load order ( but make sure your version of the game is 1.2.11 instead of what is displayed on the screenshot ) With harmony on top the following goes;

Mod Compatibility
The Old Realms does not officially support any mods other than Bannerlord Harmony (which is required). If you are encountering bugs or issues, please ensure before reporting or asking for tech support that the symptoms you are seeing are reproducible with a fresh new game running only the supported TOR modules with no other mods enabled.
Using at your own risk, the mod may be compatible with other mods that do not change factions, troops and the world map

Important
If you have a previous version of our mod installed, you must:
  • Completely remove all old TOR module folders
  • Delete your shader cache from C:\ProgramData\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\Shaders (delete both TerrainShaders and CoreShaders folders)

Note: Please be aware that ProgramData is a folder hidden by Windows by default. You must adjust your Windows view settings to be able to see it

Known Issues
Long Loading Times
The very first time you load the game after downloading and enabling our mod will be slow. The game will appear to be stuck on the loading screen - this is normal. The game is compiling shaders in the background. Depending on your PC's specifications, this may take anywhere from 10 minutes to over an hour. Once you are in the main menu, it is highly recommended that you pick the option to "Build Shader Cache". This will also result in a long loading screen, but once you are done, your gameplay experience is going to be smooth. This step is not mandatory, but if you choose to not do it, your campaign will have many 5 minute loading screens when loading into battles until you have encountered all types of armies/parties with all of our custom assets present.

This shader compiling process currently is repeated, every time Tale Worlds is publishing an update for the base gam or upon changing game version / graphic settings

FIX: We found a fix to drastically reduce the loading times – by deleting all game shaders. This will reduce overall the recompiling of the shaders a lot, to just a few minutes. WARNING: ANY other shader of the vanilla game or other mods get lost in this process and have a small recompile time.
To do please follow the following instruction:

-Step 1-
Navigate to your program data folder either by…
  • … Type %programdata% in your search bar(or press win key + r )->Mount and Blade II Bannerlord

    OR

  • … Enable hidden folders and go to C:\ProgramData\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord
    In the folder, target folder delete the “Shaders” folder.

-Step 2-
Navigate to your Bannerlord installation folder and go into the Shaders->D3D11 folder by….
  • … navigating in the explorer to C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord

    OR

  • …. right click Bannerlord in Steam->browse files-> Shaders\D3D11 )
    Inside that folder, you should see a file called compressed_shaders_cache.sack, delete that as well.

-Step 3-

A new step now since we have some shaders built-in is;
  • Navigate to; Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/261550/3025575223/shaders/D3D11/ delete the compressed_shader.cache.sack file

    OR

  • Rightclick bannerlord in steam -> manage -> browse local files -> in the bar click on steamapps/workshop/content/261550/3025575223/shaders/D3D11/ delete the compressed_shader.cache.sack file

What took us in a test case 3 hours in total (loading into the main menu and shader cache) now only took us about 10 mins.
You may experience first some slight stuttering in the game at first, since some shaders are loading on the fly. The problem will however vanish once all shaders have been loaded.

About Compatibility: "Player Settlements" seems to work just fine. I build a Castle (as Britton) got sieged and defended it... Everthing seems to be in order :D
Great Mod!

@LovelyDay2Slay No, this isnt serve as soldier, hireling is exactly what it sounds like, you get hired to be a soldier, you are in charge of your own equipment
LovelyDay2Slay hace 12 horas
In the mod itself if i were to join an army as a soldier, would i in a sense level up and earn better equipment and rank almost like the mod "Serve as a soldier"??

No problem :) If you encounter more issues we'd love to hear about them

If you have an amd gpu its because of that, the recent updates cause issues in several games.

You need amd driver 23.2.1

Strange. Then it's probably not meant to be. Too bad. I like the mod. Then I guess I'll have to play without having to enter the city. Like a hobo :steamhappy:

Thing is though, none of those scenes are TOR custom scenes, they're all vanilla.

Specifically vlandia_town_g, you can check for yourself in TOR_Core and the settlements xml, just search for the names.

Carroburg was no problem. But in Altdorf, Nuln, or Drakenhof Castle, it crashes with error 3D3.
