Have you ever wanted to roleplay a strong dynasty that sought to unite its cultural relatives only to find that you cannot form a hybrid culture with a culture of the same heritage? Well, now there is a new game rule. It should now be set to "Allow Cultural Assimilation" by default. If it is not though, you can manually change it in the game rules. This does not work with an existing save because it works with a game rule, sorry about that, but when starting a new game, go to game rules and set the cultural assimilation game rule to "Allow Cultural Assimilation." Then, you can form hybrids with cultures related to your own with the Assimilate Culture button, as long as you are on good terms with that culture. It basically works like the hybridization feature, but with related cultures. I made this for personal use, but I thought others might like it. Thank you and please enjoy.

The limitations for cultural hybridization annoy me, so I love this mod, but it sadly hasn't been updated in quite some time. Now here we are. :)

I have added a game rule so one can choose between Cultural Assimilation being available to all, just for the player (which should work but hasn't been thoroughly tested - checking for something the AI isn't doing can be tricky), or to turn it off (for those that wanna change stuff between games without having to switch mods on and off all the time).

The mod is now also compatible with Gamerules Gadget by Stik'. It is not a requirement, but if you want change the mod's rules midgame for whatever reason you can use Gamerules Gadget to do so. :)

Compatibility
The mod changes these files:
gui/window_culture.gui common/character_interactions/00_culture_interactions.txt (only ai_cultural_hybridization_interaction, doesn't touch the rest)

Any mods that make changes to the same files will be incompatible. I'm willing to make patches though, if you can tell me what mods are breaking. :)

this mod definitely needs an update the window_culture.gui alone already needs an update it is way outdated and missing updated features, probably other files need to be updated too

@ExplosiveL99 I doubt it... entire culture hybridization code is hidden out of scripts and even if you enable button on UI there are still internal checks (one which you cannot overwrite with scripts)which prevent new culture from spawning.

I'm sure you already know this, but it seems like the latest patch broke the mod as it now blocks assimilation due to having a common heritage, which kind of goes against the mod. I also use the MB+ patch so I'm unsure if its this mod's or that mod's issue.

@Rute_Of_All_Evil Not that I know of, I do have some mods that change the other windows like the faith window, house window, and the realm window. Maybe that's the problem? I don't know, it's weird sort of.

@Birb You shouldn't need to be any specific size or rank. You just need to open the culture you want to assimilate, when you can't it just shows the button with a red "x" and the reason for why you can't use assimilation will show up in red text when you hover the button.
If the button isn't showing up at all it's most likely a mod incompatibility. How many mods do you have, anything that you can think of that might add things to the culture window?

@Ayatullah Khomeini Yeah, summer had me busier than I thought it would. But it is on my projects, I haven't forgotten. Honestly my biggest issue for it is deciding how to balance it, deciding which AI personalities want to do it instead of getting more gold and what not. @_@

I don't know why, but I see no "Assimilate Culture" button. Do I need to be a certain size or certain rank? Just wanna ask.
