Bretonnian Royal Lake Guard - New Elite Units for Bretonnia

Description
General

- 14 custom-made elite units
- 1 legendary hero with unique items and abilities
- Every unit comes with its own custom-designed abilities
- Fan-made lore that ties into the original story
- Mod includes a visual change for Louen Leoncoeur (no gameplay changes) – optimized for maximum compatibility

Royal Lake Guard (Spear and Shield)
Blessed by the Lady, these living saints stand as eternal protectors of Bretonnia. They are the shield of the realm, entrusted with the defense of its most sacred and vital places. Clad in holy armor and unwavering faith, they hold their ground where others would falter.

Royal Lake Guard (Hammer and Shield)
Equipped with blessed warhammers, these soldiers form the backbone of the Royal Lake Guard. As seasoned veterans of war, they can face any enemy in open battle. Their offensive prowess matches their defensive strength.

Royal Executioners (2h Sword)
These swordmasters are the Executioners of Justice. With mighty, cleaving swings, they strike down any foe. Enraged in battle, their appearance takes on the form of a burning, god-like figure.

Royal Circle Mage
The Circle Mages are powerful spellcasters who stand behind friendly lines, supporting allied troops with protective spells and healing potions. When needed, they become formidable fighters.

Royal Lake Guard (Crossbows)
These Royal Guard members are the finest marksmen the realm has to offer. Their accuracy is unmatched, and their heavy bolts can pierce even the thickest armor.

Royal Monster Hunters
The Royal Monster Hunters are clad in spiked armor, ensuring that any strike against them comes at a painful cost - especially for beasts. They hurl heavy javelins across the battlefield, capable of piercing deep into flesh and armor alike.

Royal Pathfinders (Longbows)
Equipped with the longbow, these knights fire volleys of arrows over long distances and hit their targets.

Royal Guard of the Hightower
Whether guarding the Hightower of the Keep or facing the enemy on the open field, these men are unmatched when battling magic-wielding foes.

Royal Crusaders of the Storm
Having absorbed the essence of pure lightning while soaring through the skies, these Crusaders can unleash a thunderstorm upon their enemies.

Unit Cards

The Royal Castellan
The Royal Castellan spawns on turn 1 next to Louen. The mod is save-game compatible, so he'll join later after 1 turn, when loading a campaign. He comes with two unique items and several unique skills. He features custom animations and VFX. I spent a lot of time creating him, and I hope you'll enjoy using him!

Sarrosh - The Royal Lion
Sarrosh – The Royal Lion is a name every knight has heard. He guards the gates of the throne room, but when needed, he is called to the battlefield, where he becomes a godly warbeast, smashing all threats with his fangs and claws.

Sorcha - The Guardian of Couronne
Sorcha is the Guardian of Couronne and the loyal partner of Sarrosh. She protects the armies of the realm by granting magical protection to all nearby units. Though not as feral as Sarrosh, she remains a mighty warbeast, capable of crushing entire enemy formations with ease.

Three new trebuchet variants

The Sun of the Realm: Fires large flares over a wide area that explode into fiery shrapnel, leaving a sea of flames on the ground for a short duration.

Starbreaker: Hurls a single, precise bolt at the enemy, like a shooting star. On impact, it creates a vortex that damages all nearby enemies and pulls them inward. As the trebuchet is blessed by the Lady, it does not harm your own units.

Clustershot: A simple variant of the regular trebuchet. Instead of a single large projectile, it hurls numerous smaller stones to decimate enemy hordes. This version also uses four engines, just like the standard trebuchet.

Unit recruitment
- All units can be recruited through standard building chains (Tier V buildings required)
- Sarrosh and Sorcha can only be recruited via the Couronne landmark “Abbey of the Grail Companions”
- The Royal Castellan spawns next to Louen on turn 1

Personal Note

The mod started with just one unit and a few subscribers – and now, we’re here with more support than I ever imagined! Thank you so much for all your encouragement. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and your kind words continue to motivate me to keep improving the mod.

The mod is currently in a very good state, and I'm happy with where it is. That said, I still have a few more things planned that I’m excited to add.

Compatiblity/Submods

- The mod should be compatible with most other content, as the units are entirely new and custom-made. Balance adjustments may be needed in the form of a submod for larger overhauls like SFO.

- You’re welcome to create your own submods, as long as proper credit is given to me as the creator of the main mod. Please understand that I don’t have the time to create and maintain multiple submods myself.

- Radious Submod

- Chinese Localisation by TJX

- Traditional Chinese Localisation by 丨荒野浪人丨

- 2x Unit by SFH

Special Thanks

I'm running a Fay enchantress campaign rn, and I was wondering if I would have to confederate Louen to get the castellan and the lions?

@Mayonnaise! They are recruited in tier 5 stables but you also need the barracks tier 4 building in that region.

I don't quite understand how to recruit the Royal Crusaders of the Storm. I see I am 'allowed' to recruit them after building the royal barracks, but I actually can't recruit them anyway.

What am I missing ?

@SFH Greetings. I've added it to the submod list. Thank you.

Lot of work on this mod, sad you went over the top with unit stats. You gave bretonnia better sister of avelorn, better chosens, the best single entity monster in the game and dreadquake mortars? Since you didn't give them an OP cav as well with this mod bretonnia cavalry is the worse unit type you can recruit when you reach end game.

Ah I understand. Thanks for the explanation

@Tsuana Hi, I've heard of that issue but there's nothing I can do. You'd need a submod or Blessed Bretonnia needs to turns it into a toggable skill, not permanent.

My mod was created for the vanilla base game, where such a formation does not exist for them. I know why it happens but I could only "fix" it by removing all my units from the regular grail knights unit group, meaning they wouldn't get any buffs from anything. Creating a new unit group would cause then even more issues.

I know about some other issues with the mod too, like they remove some of the buildings iirc, which are required for my units. So either way they need to make it more like vanilla or a submod is needed. Sorry for sounding harsh but I will not change my version for the sake of their mod. Thanks for your understanding.

Hey so I play this mod with Blessed Bretonia mod and because it has perma lance formation, the mod units also turn into lance formation which, uh, don;t exactly work well for regular combat.
