Improved Cheap Water

Omschrijving
I’ve always been annoyed with the atrocious looking cheap water in BM (to the point where you could legitimately say the half life 1 water looks better unironically) and wanted to change it for a long time, and so I did.

This mod changes the texture of every cheap water you encounter in BM to resemble actual water, via refraction. I tweaked it to the best of my ability and limits to try and make it look as canny as possible in the scenarios you encounter each water if not perfectly.

Regardless even if it doesn’t look the best or perfect it is a major step up from what it was before in my opinion, and could be improved even further with map tweaking.

This mod will work without any map modifications or replacements and even works in other maps/campaigns that allow mods.

To install simply subscribe or place the VPK into your custom folder.

I wished you made variant where only the "silo" water tank and the other outside areas are affected, if that's possible, since the others are supposed to be well seen-through, as well as the coolant liquid should which should look "warm" too as it is in vanilla, and the very flat water must not be that hard to see-through at all, while I agree that the edges shouldn't be visible on them, which are fixed with your version.

For some reason this addon causes massive fps drop and crashes on the latest version of the game. Uninstalling it solved my issue.

i just found this mod, and i didn't realise how big of a difference will it makes in the astetics, but it huge. Thanks for for this mod! :steamthumbsup:

some look better, some dont. very flat water and the coolant arent supposed to look the way you changed them... flat water doesnt refract even 1/3 of the amount you see here now

I wish you gave at least 2 options. excluding flat water and coolant. now I need to look into the individual file names at the very least. I hope the ones in the "nature" folder are the flat ones

it's dated now, valve themselves even expanded on water for l4d2 and then more for portal 2
