Vehicle Selector 1.4.4

Beskrivelse

Select which vehicles can spawn from any building

Adds a Vehicle Selector button to the building info panel for supported buildings.

Press the button to open the mod's vehicle selection panel, which enables you to choose which vehicles will spawn from that building. More than one vehicle can be selected, in which case the spawning vehicle will be chosen randomly from the selected vehicles.

This replaces and overrides the game's in-built (and limited) vehicle selection mechanism; the game vehicle selection menu will be hidden when this mod is active.

Buildings with more than one transfer type can have a different vehicle selection for each transfer. For example, post offices can have different vehicles selected for local mail delivery, transfers of sorted mail to other post offices, and transfers of unsorted mail to sorting facilities.

Cities By DIana has created a short video overview.

Supported buildings include:
  • Emergency services: police, fire, ambulance, disaster (includes support for both road vehicles and helicopters).
  • Other city services: garbage collection, deathcare, and prisons (including support for the Prison Helicopter mod).
  • Maintenance services: roads, parks, snow clearing.
  • Taxis
  • Postal services: both local mail collection and delivery, and bulk mail transfer.
  • Industrial buildings: zoned industry (specialized and generic) and Industries DLC buildings are both supported.
  • Warehouses (from the Industries DLC) - including support for the Fish Warehousing mod.
  • Fishing: not just fish transport, but fishing boats are also selectable.
  • Intercity passenger trains: choose which passenger trains use which intercity stations.
  • Cargo trains: choose which cargo trains can spawn from which terminals.
  • Aircraft: Cargo aircraft and passenger (vanilla/Industries DLC/Airports DLC).
  • Ships: Cargo and passenger harbors.
  • Intercity buses
  • Cable cars
  • Light aircraft (aviation club)
  • Evacuation buses (shelters)
  • Bank vans
  • Barges (using the Barges mod)

Doesn't change vehicles on public transport lines; use the game's transport line manager (or a public transport management mod) to do that.

Selecting Barges (from the Barges mod partial fix) aren't yet supported; support will be added in a future update.

Copying settings
Copy-and-paste functionality is included to easily transfer settings between buildings, including functions to copy the selected building's settings to all others of the same kind (either across the entire map, or just in the same district and/or park area).

NOTE: buildings "of the same kind" is a loose match - it does NOT mean only buildings that are exactly the same as the selected one, but any building with compatible settings (e.g. all police stations, regardless of if they're the basic Police Headquarters or Police Headquarters, or all farm fields producing the same crop, regardless of size or appearance).

Conflicting Mods

Obviously, will conflict with any other vehicle-selecting mod (other than public transport mods) - this includes:
  • Service Vehicle Selector 2
  • Vehicle Master Control
  • No Big Truck conflict resolved (but No Big Truck will be mostly non-functional: see below)

Does NOT conflict with Transfer Controller or Advanced Vehicle Options (see below).

Using with the Transfer Controller mod
This mod replaces (and extends!) the vehicle selection formerly in the Transfer Controller mod.

If this mod is active, the Transfer Controller mod will deactivate its own vehicle selection functionality (Transfer Controller's vehicle selection will be completely removed in a future update).

If the save has not previously been used with Vehicle Selector, this mod will read and import any existing Transfer Controller vehicle settings.

Using with the Advanced Vehicle Options mod
If you've disabled a vehicle from spawning with AVO, you can still make it spawn for selected buildings using this mod - this mod's per-building setting will override any global AVO restriction.

You can use this (disable a vehicle in AVO but then add that vehicle to selected buildings in this mod) to ensure that certain vehicles will ONLY spawn from specific buildings, and not anywhere else (e.g. cargo vehicles with specific branding, or specialist emergency vehicles).

Using with Transport Lines Manager
When Transport Lines Manager (TLM) is active, this mod's intercity passenger vehicle selection (trains/buses/ships/aircraft) will be disabled; TLM's settings for these will take priority.

Using with No Big Truck
When this mod is active, No Big Truck won't have any effect except for trucks coming in from outside connections. Integration options for future updates are being explored.

Meta
This mod uses Harmony[github.com] version 2.2 by Andreas Pardeike via the Cities Harmony mod by boformer.

Saves vehicle selections in the savefile, but doesn't alter any savefile structure, and can be safely removed at any time.

Thanks to aries for providing screenshots of his vehicles i could use for the logo.

@Agent Cockchafer Ahh, yes, that would be it.

When using games with the Unity engine of the vintage in this game, NEVER second-load with mods. ALWAYS exit to desktop between loads.

Going into an editor counts as a load. Never exit an editor to the main menu and then load a save (or start a new save) when using any mods, as things will break - as you've found out.

See the Beginner's Guide To Using Mods & Custom Content with Cities Skylines.
ok so it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

i did notice that whenever it broke, i accessed the asset editor before in that session. not sure if thats the cause. nor how it could have hypothetically broken it.
@algernon how would i go around to getting the output log? also yes, i am using the Harmony version linked.

@Agent Cockchafer Not without seeing your full output log, no, provided that you're using the Harmony mod linked under 'required items' above.

anyone know why i constantly get an error about this mod not being able to load its Harmony patches on save load? the only other Harmony mod i have isn't listed as causing incompatibilities with this.

Okay, thanks. I'll just go with it as it is. No big deal.
algernon  [ophavsmand] 19. juli kl. 17:15
@wraithrider Unfortunately, no suggestions - a couple of people have reported similar, but I (and my usual testers) can't reproduce the issue. The only idea I've got is that another mod is doing something, but I've got no idea which one.

Hi Algernon, I'm noticing my police helicopter spawning point also keeps spawning news helicopters even though I only select a certain police helicopter to function. I don't know, maybe some reporters want that news story exclusive real bad. :steamhappy: As well, at times the spawn point will spawn un-selected police helicopters along with the selected ones. Any ideas on possible causes and remedies? Thanks in advance.

@PKtheEclipseGeek This mod is for service vehicles, not transit lines. To set the vehicles for transit lines use the game's in-built transit line interface.
