Remote Power

NOTE: NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MOST RECENT UPDATE (July 2023)

This mod provides a set of three different power hubs (matching the size of reactors) that can power and component up to 3, 5, or 7 blocks away. This hub needs to be powered itself, but this will allow much more complex (and cheaty) designs.

Parts powered this way cannot themselves power other devices. Meaning you cannot use a power hub to power a engine room and use that engine room to power engines.

Any bonuses provided by those components still function, only the power does not.

Balance: This mod breaks the intended balance of Cosmoteer by subverting one of the core game mechanics. While attempts at balancing it have been made to make it less distasteful to the community, this mod nevertheless changes ship design significantly and should only be used "just for fun". If you just want infinite power cheat mod, please see my Remote Power CHEAT mod.

Mod Compatibility: This mod can only directly power vanilla components. Other mods are under no obligation to support use of this mod. Patch mods are possible, however some authors may alter their mod to prevent use with this Mod.

To Mod Authors: If you want to use Remote Power as a dependency or make a patch mod that allows parts from your mod to use Remote Power, please see my Remote Power Patch Example mod.

Honestly I think I'll just maybe add a remote power mod.
Remote power + Sterling Turbine to use waste heat in one package?

My reasoning for this is that my mods are free to use and reupload, so if I go missing for 3 years, anyone can fix and post them, at the same time I am allergic to be dependent on someone elses goodwill.

Also, I would most likely create a new graphics for these nodes, add overclocking for larger AoE and as I would post it after everything released thus far, I could make it compatible with earlier mods.

Something to think about.

@sir Evans since Chase has not updated it for nearly 3 years - maybe you could post an update as a separate mod ("Remote Power continued"?), add a link to the original, and offer to remove it if requested by Chase (standard RimWorld community mod maintenance practice).
I would love to try your update!
