Description
The mighty tower of Orthanc: built by the heroic Dúnedain in the Second Age; usurped, and, with the Ring of Isengard, despoiled by the white wizard Saruman; finally returned to a state of nature by the unstoppable fury of the Ents.

This ancient black tower once stood guard for a great empire of men and is now little more than a landmark on the wide horizon of the Riddermark.
