Type B light rail vehicle (1st-3rd series + Working cart)

In this project, we have taken on the forefather of the light rail system in North Rhine-Westphalia (One of the 16 federal state). At the beginning of the 1970s, the realisation of a continuous light rail connection between Cologne and Bonn began. The trains should use the tramway tunnels in the inner-city area and the tracks of the Cologne-Bonn railway in the traffic connecting the cities. This idea led to the development of the type B light rail vehicle, which was delivered in 3 prototypes from 1973. Until 2002, approx. 470 type B light rail vehicles were built.

This realisation in Lotus represents the 1st-3rd series of the type B light rail vehicles, all of which were delivered in the 1970s. The focus is on the series procurements from Cologne and Bonn. Even though the cars are still in use today without any major changes, we have also taken the trouble to depict different states of the vehicles. Also included is a fictitious working cart, which was simply created on the spur of the moment.​
