Hello there, us again for a first Warhammer 3 mod with a collaboration of Gunking, Calm, PaulH, ScribeUnited and meself ! This time we are aiming at reintroducing good old lore in the new Kislev CA proposed for game 3. You can find in the following the changes :

Ice Court

Sleds are here ! We’ve been working on retifying mounts for the Ice Court to make them more unique (no Bears or Wyrms) and aligned with what they should be :
  • Katarin now has access to 3 mounts, a warhorse, her own War Leopard Sestra and her own Elks pulled sled ! She has access to both lores of Ice and Tempest, and being the current ruler, she's also getting the Kislev flag back ! Plus katarin dropped Frost Fang for her good old Fear Frost.
  • Ice Witches now have access to 3 mounts, a warhorse, a generic War Leopard and an Ice sled
  • Frost Maidens now have access to 3 mounts, a warhorse, a generic War Leopard and a Frost sled

The leopard mounts and the amazing sled models have been made by Calm.
This is fully compatible with my own Katarin more icy sled mod.

Lore of Hag

Our custom lore of hag (credits [HN] and Venris) has been cut to keep the new CA one, the Ancient Widow feature has been turned into a skill ability available middle game for Ostyanka and the hags.

Talking about the hags, only one variant still remains with the actual lore of hags and a new skills line, Mother O has also been renamed to Baba like in the original lore.

The Golden Knight

We found part of the take CA gave to Naryska a bit weird so we decided to maker her more about representing the Kislev nation with a complete set of new items :
  • A sword given by the Ice Court
  • A golden armour given by the Cult of Dazh
  • A silencing shield given by the Cult of Ursun
  • An electric talisman given by the Cult of Tor

She also doesn’t spawn with her items anymore, you’ll have to unlock them like any other character.

Roster rework

Renaming

Some units have been renamed to match the lore better like Light War Sleds are now Oblast Sledges or War Bear Riders are now Sons of Ursun. A lot of those have been changed, and more will happen.

Bear Variations

We've all been a bit shocked by the omnipresence of White bears in the game, so we decided to make additional variants with black, cedar and honey bears.



Tsar Guard

The Bokha Palace Guard is clearly not just more armoured Kossars, they have been remaned to Kreml Guards and the model has been reworked to look more elite. Plus a new unit has been added using Bardiches, which is their signature weapon in lore.



The 2 units of Tsar Guards have been renamed and reskins as Druzhina, groups of minor Kislevite nobels fighting for their queen. The models feature stereotypes of each parts of the Kislevite society.

Urugan Cannons

A new lore artillery unit has been added, the Urugan Cannons acting as a first tier before little grom.

Sleds

From the first trailer we found the ice under the selds a bit weird... So both light/heavy sleds and little groms had the ice swapped for skiis. Plus the light sled (Oblast sledge) now uses horses instead of bears.



Gryphon Legion

The gryphon legion horses have been reskined to the old warhammer colours, being kinda their trademark.



Kostaltyn

To make it different from Boris & Katarin, Kostaltyn now has a black bear mount instead of a white one.

Settlements rework

The building icons like in the other games felt a bit generic, each level now have a unique icon. And talking about generic, the main 3 settlements are also being reworked with more loreful landmarks, namings and descriptions.

What to come ?

Few units, some rework, new lord and agent types.

Any chance for a different animation set for Kreml Guards? The way they hold these Bardiches just doesnt look that well

I just think it feels ''out-of-scope'' of the purpose of this mod from my POV as this mod to me aims to be more of the cosmetic/loreful intent, and that unit was intentionally left exclusive to the prologue for (what we can assume are) game design/balance reasons by CA so I don't think thi mod should mess with balance to that degree. I think there's a difference between small additions, often filling holes that CA may not have had the time or intent to work out, and adding something that CA straight-up intentionally removed from the game in accordance with their vision of the faction's gameplay. Not having that T2 spear hybrid unit is part of Kislev's identity in the early game, in my opinion.

But of course that's up to you, the author, to decide in the end.

Either way, I do think it is necessary for such a change to be explicitly stated in the description of this mod so people know what they are getting.

This mod re-adds the Armoured Kossars (Spears) which are supposed to be exclusive to the prologue and not part of the Realm of Chaos Campaign and nowhere in the description does it say that. I don't think they should be added.

Loving the mod so far, but it seems some of the renaming hasn't been fully done.

I still see reference to Boyar and Druzhina in the Ice-Wrought tech, instead of Voivod and Ethman. Dervishes instead of Steppe Nomads under Leather treatment tech. Tzar Guard instead of Druzhina and Kreml guard under Bulwark of the Tzarina. War bear riders instead of sins of Ursun for Bear Baiting.

The regiments of renown still have Tzar Guard and War Bear Riders in parentheses.

In the Court & Orthodoxy menu, you have Tzar Guard under Devoted Guardians, War Bear Riders under Ursun's Favoured, Boyar and Druzhina under First to Fight.
