Opis
Update: July 25th 2023

• Fixed the weather
• Increased the frequency of ore spawns
• Removed gold
• Added silicon
• Greatly increased the abundance of platinum
• Fixed a player respawn issue

Background

Silona was discovered in 498 NE by the Isbern Astronomy League. It's a large, life-bearing moon orbiting a super-earth called Saprimentas 6.8 lightyears from Angelus, and exploring it has become the prime objective of Angelus' extrasolar efforts. Its atmosphere and geography make the planet suitable for human habitation, and its unusually hot and dense heavy-metal core likely denotes the presence of valuable surface ore. Additionally, the heat from the core allows life to thrive in craters and lowlands.

The greatest mystery of the planet is the massive scar that rips across much of its surface. It doesn't appear to be caused by any natural phenomena, but so far there is only conjecture about how it could have happened. Some people believe it may have been an alien weapons testing site, but mainstream sources prefer to say that it is the aftermath of a supervolcano eruption.

In my experience, the performance of the planet is good - it's similar to Mars, and better than Earthlike, with the added bonus of improved performance when traveling at high speeds (because loading times are quicker). Increasing the resolution of the heightmaps might enable for an optimization, but it doesn't improve performance to do so.

Plus, it would require a total redo of the planet. It's not worthwhile.
