I stopped working on this project 2 years ago but randomly decided to publish it now. I had thought there would be a proper Russian mod but since it seems there won't be I figured I would upload this.

What it is
-----------------
This is a total conversion / theater mod that adds Russian soldiers and equipment using a collection of mods already on the workshop, merging them into one. This mod isn't complete, or polished, but it is playable. I don't plan on improving it, either. I am posting this "as is."

How it works
------------------
Previously, to use Russian mods one would have to install them to override British assets and uninstall them when they wanted to use Britain again. With this mod, you can swap between Britain and Russia at will by changing the theater, no need to uninstall.

Content

This mod contains character models, headgear, weapons, and voices, with compatibility with for one map, theater files, and a few graphics added by me.

Usage
------------------
Open console with ~ key
mp_theater_override ostfront

mp_theater_override default (to return British)

Requires Born to Kill to run.

Go into your settings and enable console. On a standard U.S. keyboard, tilde (~) will open the console, it's left of 1. It may be something else on another keyboard. Paste mp_theater_override ostfront into the console.

BlueShinobi yes, so with this mod installed alongside the map in the Required Items section (Born to Kill as well), Russians can be played specifically on that map. It's a complete theater override, meaning it in no way interferes with playing as other factions on other maps, as long as you switch back to the default theater before trying to play those. Unlike using these mods individually like you see in the workshop, this allows you to switch between British and Russian without needing a game reset. Hope this helps.

Hello, I am thinking of kind of making something similar and wondered if I could finish this project. Essentially someone in the DOI revival discord thought it would be cool to add some weapons from born to kill and I said why not just make a playable russian faction and I was directed to this workshop submission. Is this a mod that makes russians playable on certain maps? cos if so that is pretty neat

There is no visual change in the main menu when using theater override on this mod. You can run Stalingrad in multiplayer using the console commands on its steam page (see 'required items'), or load the map in practice mode.

I'm assuming this mod no longer works. Installed everything but when I type in mp_theater_override ostfront nothing happens. Was hoping to play solo with bots :(

Hey, I can't recall if you can do that in DoI since it's been years since I've modded for it. You should be able to set something like that up with AutoHotkey however.

Hello,
Do you know if its possible to bind the theater_override to a key,
so that i can change between theathers in the click of a button?
I remember i used to do something similar in TF2, so i figured it would work on DOI since its the same engine, but i wasnt able to yet
