New Amalgamation specializations with only 6 ranks each.
The Heavy specialization was converted to a dedicated rocketeer.

Yup. This way I could avoid adding in filler perks and the soldiers get better much faster. The total power ceiling was also lowered significantly by taking away many of the action economy perks present in the original trees.
With these condensed specs there is much more competition on what perks you want to pick on each rank, which leads to more meaningful decision for the player to make.

Yup. The intent being that you will lose soldiers, but those losses are not as devastating as you can level up a replacement soldier much faster. In general this should also promote more reliance on good equipment instead of abusing OP abilities.
