The mod is called Advanced Welding and it has a slim, collisionless, self-deleting merge block called a weld pad. It's pretty cheap to, at a cost of 1 steel plate, computer, and construction component. You can also detach a block without grinding it down if you hold ctrl while grinding.
Perfect for salvage scenarios (or the new Prototech blocks).
(De-/A-)tachable connectors (like with rotors/hinges). They were rather slim from the design , just a slightly different looking endpoint.
Great work on the mod btw, love the double flang piece. They should implement that in the game.
