POV: You need to feed your crippling addiction to buying model buses.

Imagine its the early 1970s, the need for heavy express passenger trains in the southern Region is growing and you need something to haul them. Here's a loco for the job, a DC version of the Class 87, the Class 78. Now, imagine its 1980 something and you need a super sleek new fleet of trains to run on the newly electrified line to Weymouth from Bournemouth, the West Coast Mainline is seeing a shiny new fleet of streamlined locomotives and DVTs. Why build an entirely new unit to fill this spot; get your own set of DVTs and Mk3 coaches, and run them with the 78s.
