GeTA Sulfur - DA class

The GeTA Sulfur railway (Geo-thermal Tranz Alpine) used DA-class diesel engines for most of its lifetime beyond the steam era. These were used to haul freight as well as the passenger service from Oatery to the alpine village of Serro Geo.

These locomotives were the prime work horses of the railway, and are still very commonly seen hauling freight between the sulfur mines. The newer Ac440CW's have replaced them in most situations though, like running the passenger service and most heavy freight.
