Vanilla Furniture Expanded – Spacer 2 is a major overhaul of the original Spacer module, designed to bring your late-game colonies into the futuristic era with furniture that actually looks and feels futuristic. This update modernizes all visuals, rebalances gameplay stats, and expands the content offering significantly. It still adds the things you’re used to: sleek beds, illuminated furniture, interactive tables, massive TVs, but now also adds air purifiers, modern couches and armchairs, wall-mounted TVs, and more. Outdated or redundant items have been removed, and everything is fully compatible with ongoing saves. Whether you're aiming for comfort, style, or immersion, this update makes your spacer colonies look the part.

Everything is designed to fit naturally into the vanilla game, with no new resources or overly complex mechanics. It’s also designed to fit perfectly with other Vanilla Expanded mods in terms of compatibility and balancing.

Q: Do I need the original Vanilla Furniture Expanded mod to use this?
A: If you’re on 1.4 or lower, yes, but otherwise this mod no longer depends on Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Core.

Q: Will this mod work with existing saves?
A: Yes! It’s fully save-compatible. Your current colonies won’t break, and any furniture from the previous version will update seamlessly. There may be some harmless red errors, but that’s about it.

Q: Is this mod compatible with other Vanilla Expanded mods?
A: Absolutely. It’s designed by the same team and plays nicely with all other Vanilla Expanded content.

Q: Does it require any DLCs?
A: No DLCs are required, but the mod does have added functionality if you’re using Ideology DLC (e.g., school chairs and royal beds).

Q: Is the furniture just reskinned versions of vanilla items?
A: Not at all. Each piece has unique stats or functionality, whether it’s better rest effectiveness, new recreation types, or small bonuses to linked beds.

Q: Can I customize or disable specific furniture pieces?
A: No toggles are present in this mod, sorry.

Q: Is the +20 Cleanliness of the Air purifier applying when purifier is unpowered?
A: No, it requires power to apply the bonuses.

Wall Mounted Television hates being on a gravship. That thing jumps all around randomly whenever the ship changes orientation.

I got a Mechanite Repair Shelf as a quest reward and it seems like it does not like being in uninstalled form:

Could not execute post-long-event action. Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

I have to add my voice to the complaint on the previous page about the wall-mounted television moving one step sideways after every gravship launch. It will even move through walls entirely if you launch enough times. Don't let your TV get away from you, folks!

A small problem I found is that the outdoor solar lamps do not turn off while a solar flare happens, due to them not using power like other lamps. It's a small bug but it should be simple to fix

does this mod need the other furniture mod as a dependency?

I would like to suggest a passageway that is 1x wide that allows pawns to move in space without a vacsuit, like a tube that encases air. Would look like what you see in any Mars related game or movie. Pawns would be covered when moving in there. Could connect buildings on an asteroid without having to build massive 3x1 corridoors everywhere.

@Pasaway Rimpy is abandonware, it doesn't matter what rimpy says, switch to rimsort. Sure rimsort isn't perfect but at least it's being maintained unlike rimpy.

@spaceprogram444 Then stop being whiney and just don't use it. If you don't like something either edit it out or just don't research it. Stop pretending your preferences matter when you contribute nothing.

Mechanite Repair Shelf makes this mod overpowered. I don't understand why this had to be included... There is a reason why stuff like this isnt in the game. With this there is no longer any need to farm plasteel in the late game, making this game less challenging and thus boring at that stage.

Heads up. Rimpy is still calling for Vanilla Furniture Expanded as a requirement.
