Description
BROKEN SINCE LAST UPDATE

Use Weapons Pack for now, that mod has been updated to be compatible with the latest game version, and it includes everything in REBALANCE.

A massive mod that re-balances classes and their weapons.

Guns are more distinct and varied. Ultimates are buffed.

This mod makes the game easier. Changes will help you however far you've progressed.

Note: REBALANCE is also included in Weapons Pack.

Warning: Disabled Progress
Using this kind of mod prevents star ratings from saving. But the is a workaround: You can still save stars if you use this mod's files to overwrite the game files manually. A guide for this is here.

If you want to use REBALANCE with Level Pack, be sure to use the compatible version here. The guide will tell you when to perform the setup detailed in the Level Pack mod description.

Objectives
  • Make every gun feel worth unlocking
  • Balance Ultimates to compare fairly to Sniper Support
  • Don't change star costs, balance guns around existing costs
  • Change as little as possible and limit overhauls
  • Focus on fun, not real-world gun gun attributes
  • Add more ways to tackle armor
  • Add faster ways to breach
  • Add new ways to play in co-op
  • Make Agent and Shield's pistols more varied
  • Make Shield more interesting in solo
  • Make revolvers badass
  • Make ODG more distinct from Assaulter
  • Make Recon faster
  • Buffs not nerfs!

Changes

Hopefully you'll want to jump right in and see the changes for yourself. There are a few surprises.

Some changes are easy to miss, so here's a brief list. (extended details here[github.com])

Gameplay
  • Reduced some skill perk costs for Agent, Recon and ODG (no more "just out of reach" builds!)
  • Barrels explode faster!
  • Extra Gear now gives you 2 items, instead of 1
  • Bomb hostages have a much lower chance of running towards you (25% > 10%)
  • Detonator ♥♥♥♥ explode chance reduced (40% > 30%)

Assaulter
  • PDWs are completely rebalanced, their stats show the changes
  • PDWs also boost movement speed by 10%!
  • MCX has a reduced fire rate - it fires as slow as you'd need to shoot in vanilla to actually land shots (and its recoil is better too). No ranged damage loss makes it worth trying
  • LMG Ultimate is a monster - it does more damage with less recoil, AND IT CAN BREACH!

Breacher
  • Buffed M870's fire rate and reload speed, it's still the only shotgun that doesn't slow you down while shooting
  • Rebalanced S12K Tactical, now based on the AA12
  • SIX12 is no longer unusable, and with the right perks it's slugs are awesome
  • Breach Saw can rampage! You get a larger clip and you move faster with it

Shield
  • Shield got a lot of love in this mod!
  • All her pistols have a higher fire rate (you can spam the fire button in vanilla to achieve the same thing, but it makes for tired fingers!)
  • Her guns don't have alts, so now they all have descriptions
  • 1-shot criticals with her Revolver! (community suggestion)
  • Shield Bash can breach fast with a bash then a kick
  • Rifle Resistant Shield gets an entirely new alt, Emergency Grenade. Sacrifice armor to explode where you stand. Good for protecting your health from melee, and its large stun radius makes it very versatile (but I'll let you discover how to use it :D). Gets better the more you invest skill points into shield protection and strategic point gain.
  • Her SMG deals AP damage now and lasts longer

Agent
  • Agent's pistols are way more varied now
  • She has a silenced 1911 with less recoil
  • Her Revolver's tiny clip is offset with a very fast cooldown on her Aimed Shot
  • G18C Auto Pistol has a semi-auto mod (community suggestion)
  • Tons of variety in general
  • Akimbo has AP on par with the FiveSeven
  • Her Cherry Darling perk boost damage now too

Recon
  • Recon was always a difficult class - high rewards but high investment. Now he's set to "Hard"
  • Marksman Rifle lasts a little longer, and it actually tells you how its damage buff works
  • Moves fast! Climbs even faster!

ODG
  • Tricked-Out AK is even more trickout out -- now it's got a silencer
  • Trapper Rifle is (slightly) more viable against armor, so if you want to storm the final chapter with it, you can now (good luck!)
  • Garand has way more manageable recoil and a larger clip

QoL
  • Quality of life changes from QoL
  • New text changes, plus improvements on the QoL mod's presentation
  • Every bit of text in the game should be clear now!

Last Bit
I love this game. Modding it was a great excuse to clock up over 100 hours, I don't regret any of it.

I'd like to give a massive thank you to the developers. You guys made something amazing here, and I really appreciate that you gave us the tools to change how the games looks and feels -- and to let other people experience our ideas too.

Thank you too to the other modders who have worked hard to keep the game interesting. Especially to visual modders Squillen (your attention to detail is really inspiring), to chelovek (your Zeal Squad mod is impressive as hell), and to hoba (your Heavy Armemants mod inspired me to get into proper modding).

Shoutouts also to the amazing map makers who have done things I couldn't dream of - especially Stryker_Ben (your Red Storm campaign is so good, and your synopses make the maps feel even more engaging) and Haru Moritaka (the Dark Souls of DK:AS maps! Gripping, strategic and addictive, I look forward to (dying a lot in) each one)

Is this compatible with the new DLC update? I tried the mod, but it broke a number of menus and sounds. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if the mod doesn't support the new version yet.

I'd love to see the devs maybe incorporate some of these changes into the actual game. Currently i really enjoy the game, but so many of the guns just feel utterly pointless to unlock. On the recon i saved up a couple of levels and bought the MP7SD and it's just like lazer precision when using "rapid fire" (which is actually slower than regular fire for all guns) with extreme range offscreen, and even in regular fire the weapon has crazy accuracy unless you hold it down for half the mag.

There's definitely some balance issues with the game, however i see it says this mod makes the game easier, so i'll hold off on using it until i've finished the game, then go back and have some fun with this mod.

At the very least the devs should include the stuff that's just QoL based or improved descriptions based.

@Genolla They are incompatible - but Weapons Pack also includes REBALANCE in its entirety. I've just updated the description on Weapons Pack to mention it.

@darkly77 Hi, I was just trying out a couple of your mods and I noticed that the game will not allow me to turn on your "REBALANCE" mod and your "Weapons Pack" mod at the same time. Is there some way to fix this, or are they just not meant to run together?

@Insert Name Here: That's a good idea, the SWAT Revolver's ranged damage loss made for too much guesswork. I've removed its ranged damage loss in v1.10
