Beskrivning
Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI)
In my experience, DDIs are the highest-capacity freeway-to-street interchange you can possibly make (though they are not exclusively limited to freeway-to-street situations).

Advantages:
  • Greatly reduces the # of conflict points and thus the chance for human error
  • Makes left turns far easier since there is no opposing traffic when you turn
  • Safer due to better visibility of oncoming traffic
  • Higher speeds due to gentler curves and better angles of merging
  • Higher capacity than most interchanges
  • More direct paths of travel than a large roundabout (Ex: In a roundabout, time is wasted traveling 3/4 around a circle to make the left turn and 1/2 way around the circle to go straight)

Disadvantages:
  • Requires more land to build
  • More complex to setup properly
  • Higher construction and maintenance costs

This Asset:
  • Diverging diamond over ground freeway
  • Freeway carriageways are spaced 48 units apart for those using the Parallel Road Tool mod
  • Center space can support a railway or one 2-lane highway if you need left side ramps
  • Recommended for heavy traffic volumes
