oh, I actually understand what you talkin bout, it's the campaign itself causes it, since it was originally made for HL2 it has a lot of old versions of some models and game starts to have this problem with textures, you need this

youve got a keen eye friend i had no idea rokus re campaigns were messin with pipes thats one mystery solved

verifying cache won't resolve it if campaign packed in .vpk
after several map changes (transition between levels) game tries to mount different model taken from custom .vpk that can't fit original textures and fails to pink/black checkerboard

Silent Hill can also break other maps by the way) you have to constantly check the cache in the game after such maps)

I've noticed that a lot of foliage and pipes can be screwed up by custom campaigns
such as
Roku's Resident Evil can screw up pipe03, pipeset08d and pipeset32d
also Claustraphobia can screw up rooftopcluster06a, can be spoted on 2nd map of crash course

Then everything is clear. two map, this and another the hive can break all the other maps all right)

correct texture. Although this is possible thanks to other Half-Life maps

hmm, i just unloaded all custom maps and checked if it still pink/black aaaand it wasn't :\
somewhere in custom campaign sits the same model but requires textures under different names, gotta find where is it now :\
