Outlet Mall Pack

Outlet stores or factory stores first appeared in the 1930’s as a way for factories to sell damaged or imperfect goods. Until the 1970’s this was the purpose of these stores, however they shifted to sell discounted lower quality goods produced by the manufacturer. There are over 472 outlet malls in the United States.

Outlet malls tend to be similar to regular malls, they have food courts, and variety of different stores and brands, however outlet centers tend to be open-air malls with few being indoors unlike regular malls.

Two of the largest operators of outlet malls in the United States are Premium Outlets and Tanger Outlets. I included roadside signage for both of these companies.

This outlet mall was based off the Tanger Outlets in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.[earth.google.com]
