You can have as many asset mods or addon mods enabled at once as you like.
Config mods are parallel to the old large-scale mods Battlezone II had that were used by launching the game with a different .cfg file (hence the name). These could only ever be activated one at a time. Due to an unfortunate change to the system that had to be made for BZCC, map packs couldn't fall under the other categories and had to be lumped in with these config mods.
