There's a way to get this and a lot of other weapons that might not work into KF. Subscribe to WeaponsWorkshop here in the workshop. Most supported weapons will be added to the trader perfectly fine, including the Hunting Rifle. If a supported weapon isn't added, most likely you are missing some of the weapon's files.

AHordeOfBunnies: Yes, it does allow perk progression. No, you can't use the weapon in every random server. The server itself must be running a mutator to allow the weapon such as

To all those asking, the rifle no longer works, it stopped working even before 1058 when they introduced the new trader setup.
It doesn't look like Braindead is coming back to this mod, if people want it looked at they would have to contact him for the mod files and create a workaround.
