@DAVIDWANG1119, Thats a very vague and confusing statement. Maybe if you want to give me a suggestion or criticism, be a little more specific. Im not sure what you mean by "objects" because that describes everything in the level. If you are talking about the paneled walls, that's the intended look. It's not supposed to be detailed with grime or clutter, it's simplistic in a sense in order to make things a little clearer. This map isn't a tech demo, it's still meant to be played, and visuals aren't the top priority. Maybe you could elaborate more so I can respond better, thanks :)

@ RaLeXb0i, thats what im working on right now :) Soon, i'll release an update that overhauls some visuals, after that, it's all optimization. I do have area portals on the interiors, but thats it right now.

@Uncle Tucker, Mid is the part that needs the most work for sure. As for optimization, it is a slow and gruesome process. Textures aren't the problem though. The crappy frames outdoors is due to every single prop in the level being rendered at the same time, which is really bad. I'm working on it, but im not very good at optimizing. There are nodraw textures all over the place, you just don't see them :p

The map's concept as a whole is very well thought out. Mid could use a little more cover as it feels too empty. optimization is also needed in a lot of areas. You could improve FPS a ton if you put a nodraw texture on parts that will never be seen during gameplay by players. Awesome map tho!

@Loadingue, Yeah your definitely right about that. I don't care about it getting it into the game a ton. Mappings fun, and I enjoy it for the process, and for being able to give people something fun to play on. Thanks a lot for your input, I'm actually working on your suggestions as we speak :p

It's a good map, definitely. But I'm saying this remark because Valve definitely has a habit of choosing maps that are... consistent in style.

@Loadingue, Yeah your definetly right. Like I said, it's kind of an experiment. The great thing about level design is not everything has to make sense. If you like it, think it looks good, then you can do it. Just like any form of art, it can be praised or frowned upon. In a realistic sense, you're right, it's out there. But if looking at as a map for Counter Strike, in my opinion at least, it's ok. Remember it's also in Beta, and while I won't completely overhaul the visuals, I will improve them, maybe make everything fit together more.

I'm not sure where in Europe you have been, though this map seems the most inspired by Italy. Yet, I doubt you'd find buildings dating from the renaissance in an industrial complex. It looks very off, like when Japanese game devs make a game set in America. Every piece of location seems convincing on its own, but the whole has a weird vibe.

@Loadingue, Well thats up to interpretation, but I see what you mean. Theres an old church that neighbors a futuristic building for example. It's a mix for sure, but i've done my best to make the seams connect well. I just figured that when you look at a modern city, especially in Europe, theres a crazy mix of new and old. Some find this distasteful, and it certainly can be. On the contrary, it can also be very cool. Once again, it's all subjective. If anything, the style of Cypress is an experiment.
