Oh I wasn't blaming you homie, I was just letting people know who find it after me. I tested it as the only mod on 'The Island' and it never worked for whatever reason.

This is offered as-is. My PC is old at this point and I can't mod currently.

@DuhKodaa there is no source code available currently, and I'm not able to make it available either really at the moment. You could reach out to the original creator, or to make your own version from scratch.

Is there source code so anyone willing could try to port it over to ASA?

The OG creator is Jid, which you can see on the Created By panel if you look for it.
For my part, if someone wishes to make something similar to ASA, they're free to. I'm never buying ASA, and even on OG ARK I currently can't mod due to my PC being old and not really having the space for the tools to mod.

I'm actually not the original creator of the mod, and the dodo nests having a silly amount of eggs was the idea of the original creator. Not sure if it was to be funny, or to explain how dodos still exist despite being eaten by just about everything, or both.

That is really unfortunate, and I'm sorry a bug like this is causing issues. If it's a single player game, you could edit bodies to decompose faster? It's not an ideal solution, but it could help.

Babies shouldn't hatch at all, but I'm aware that the precautions set in place to make sure eggs don't hatch very much don't always work as intended.

Fun fact: when the original creator first worked on this mod, nests spawned like creatures did. This led to swamp being absolutely FILLED with nests. It was kinda funny to see the orange glow just all but coat the swamps.

Found a nest with like 25 dodo eggs. Not sure why dodo nests always have the most eggs. Only mod I know that causes dodos to attack you. Pretty funny to me.

Still haven't found a solution to nests falling thru the foundation to the ground. Thought that putting the egg layers on a ceiling would do the trick. On occasion in my base I see a nest fall thru a ceiling and disappear. That works to some extent, but not always.

No mods for clear foundations that actually work.

What's worst is a nest hatching and the babies die. You can't do anything with the dead babies but wait for the to decomp. My games it's usually like 3 hrs. Some of the dead babies fall thru if I remove a ceiling and other don't.

I've had a Oviraptor nest spawn outside my base. Those babies are fast. Couldn't even imprint on it how fast it was. Ran off and died somewhere from lack of food.

But overall I really like this mod since I get to have dinos I usually don't bother taming.

I'm sorry but not to my knowledge. There's a bug (or maybe multiple) that cause the eggs to either hatch regardless of the safeguards to stop it from happening, or cause them to die from unfitting temperature regardless of the safeguards to stop it from happening. When approaching nests where the eggs have disappeared from already, the nests break. (Or, at least this is how I remember it happening.)

nests spawn but just get destroyed upon getting too close is there anyway to change that?

I got it, I need a mod with see thru foundations. Already have 50 mods, might as well have more.

I'm trying to avoid the blue sparkles in my base. I'd rather have an nest fall thru and disappear rather then blue sparkles everywhere in my base. Hence the ceilings.

I don't think this mod is set to have the Wyverns making nests and eggs, but this mod is known to sometimes "hijack" nests and cause unexpected results. I myself way back in the day had a mod creature making nests, though it should not have been possible.

I still keep an eye on the comment section and try to answer questions and comments as they come. I'd like to one day look into rewriting the mod, but it's not feasible for the foreseeable future.

Funny thing is that even the males drop eggs. So all tame have to be in ceilings, which I found out if nest falls thru it lands on the foundation. Except for dragons, the eggs fall thru and disappear. Still trying to find a work around for them. Or make a area without foundations. Found a mod that has ceilings as foundations which might be the answer to the dragons and base building.

No need to be sorry, I like the mod, I get dinos I normally would never tame. It just have to get creative with the tames and the nests. I appreciate you responding to this, wasn't expecting it.

I'm currently not able to work on the mod due to my PC being quiet old and not having the space for the devkit. The mod is offered as-is.

The only work a round is to put all tames on a ceiling and hope for the best.

Tames are pooping out egg nests as well. Wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that the nests often disappear into the foundations and it's a pain to find them.

I use S+ and like to stack foundations. The nests are usually all the way at the bottom somewhere. For me that's like 3 or more layers down. Have to live with the blue floaties since I can't find them and they don't disappear even after the babies are hatched. And once the babies hatch and die, you can't do anything with them except leave them there.

Back when I played ARK more often, I noticed the empty nests thing. My best guess is that the measures to stop the eggs from hatching and/or being damage failed, and all the eggs are gone via hatching or dying.

If I ever get a chance, I'd like to see if I could rework this mod from scratch, but I can't promise anything.

Mod feels like it's missing the medium to big dino eggs except the Stego and Para. Only found once an Argen egg and scorp. I have a gazzillion small dino eggs.
Also been encountering empty nests.
I play only playing on the island. So don't know about other maps.
Otherwise it's a great mod, thanx.

How odd. But this mod hasn't updated in years now, I'm pretty sure, a lot might have changed and made things more unstable.

I did some experimenting.
If you change NestDuration=90 to more, no nest ever pops up.
Also adding [DinoNestSettings] to the ini file makes nests really rare. and you only get one egg per nest. But leaving that out, you get more eggs. for example with [DinoNestSettings] dodo nests only had 1 egg, without it in the ini they had several.

That's not a bug I was aware of happening. I've seen modded dinos "hijack" the game's dino's nests, but I guess I never paid attention to the levels.

I hope this goes through Steam's been weird to me today.

Why don't the eggs match the parents level? Argen, level 200 (when wild) and the egg comes out at level 60 from this mod.

I do like that my tames tend to from time to time make a egg nest. Had to get creative for the nest spawning under the floor for the egg layers.

Never been attacked before by a swarm of angry dodos before this mod. Was hilarious.

Ohhh that under floor spawning is unfortunate! I'm glad the mod still mostly works for you, though.

I still like the mod. Get to get dinos I never bothered to tame before. One other thing, I use S+ and the nests sometimes spawn under floors. A bit annoying when you can't pick them up.

I remember that damn bug, I was never able to fix it though.
Unfortunately I can only offer this mod as-is currently, I can't work on it for the time being.

I often get to the nest and poof it immediately decays. This comes out to roughly 1 out of 5 nests that's you can get eggs from.

The babies need to be claimed and fed just like any normal bred baby, they have no protections.
This mod is old, so the eggs sometimes still incubate even though the original modder tried to make sure that wouldn't happen.

The Mod works on my Fjordur Singleplayer very nice mate, but they do seem to be a bit rare-ish to find.

Sometimes, but when it happens it's a bug and not intended to happen.

Simple Spawners allows for making mod creatures have nests, but you need to manually put the nests where you want them and to choose which creatures can nest in those.

Do mod dinos lay eggs too ?

I do want this to better than it was - however I think it needs a Complete rewrite due to the numerous bugs it has going on.
I'm also unsure if the current files are for me to share, as I'm not the original author. Any rewrite I'd attempt would be mine to begin with.

Maybe make it open source? I've been working in the dev kit, and I'd absolutely love to carry on the task of updating it to all of the newly added dinos like Carcharadontosaurus, as well as giving it support for modded dinos as well! Idk if you still have the mod files themselves, but if so, then it would be great to continue the mod's legacy, and make it even better than it once was

This isn't originally my mod, I was just upkeeping it until I couldn't keep the devkit on my PC anymore.

I do hope to remake this, but I need a better PC first.

Noice it really like having a karpo army to attack a dinoless tribe it was hilarious / i raided them for killing my baby dodo and lystro when i started out so it was fun to get revenge with kapros

yeeeah i may have picked up 12 godzilla eggs, godzilla did eventually stop popping the eggs out. I am also glad to hear you got yourself a place to stay! and i dont blame you for not having ark at this very moment cause so needlessly big. 300 gigs is a lot.

i was going to come to you about a slight problem with Godzilla throwing eggs like a kid throwing rocks at a window sort of deal, but i read the future plans bit which really sucks and i hope you find a good place to stay soon.

on a side note, there's something about 5 eggs shooting out from godzilla at mach 5 that made me laugh, and then panicking when there are 4 more that are in nests INCUBATING. My computer's life is on the line and so is my world.
