What mask was it? You said it wasn't the textures, so I don't really have much of an idea. Make sure to disable the xray mode by pressing ALT+X while selecting the model, as that's the only reason I can think of why it's transparent.

well yes i did run into a problem, i tried to port just a mask from gta 5 and its transparent, nothing to do with the textures, i already tested, i might have done something wrong in 3ds max

If you're getting that error, make sure the GIMS folder is in appdata/local

i tried for hours and i couldn't get Gims evo to work, i would either get a shared code error or nothing at all, and i also couldn't find any blender tools

i wanna try to port the ufe for my addon and maybe the comando sombra, if i fail to do it then i guess i'll keep the current ones im using and i'll try to use your gta online ports to make something similar to the comando sombra

I used to use 2016 but it's no longer on the Autodesk website, so I use 2017 now.
There are tools for Blender, so you don't need Max at all, I just prefer it.

Once its in 3DS Max, you can drag and drop the textures onto the model to apply the textures. Even if its already applied, just reapply the textures because it won't export right with the auto-applied ones.

You also need Wallworm tools, or something similar. Either that, or export it to Blender and export to SMD. There are videos on Youtube on how to rig, setup QC, and how to setup the VMT files. Good ones are from Timbleweebs, and some others, as well as lot's of written tutorials. If you find a forum leading to the Facepunch forums, you can use archive.org to view the thread.

The first time is usually frustrating and confusing, but after doing it a few times you get used to it.
I use OpenIV to extract the models to openformats (odd/odr I think file type), and using Gims EVO for 3DS Max, you can import the ODD or ODR file.
Once it finishes importing, sometimes it will have a high, med, and low model, you can delete the med and low models.

You also need the textures, and they're under YTD or something, at least for GTA 5. You can just double click it in OpenIV and drag it out of the window to extract it.

what do you use to port these? im thinking of trying to port some max payne 3 models myself but i dont know what programs to use, of course when i get everything setup and i start its all gonna fall apart in 5 minutes, i'll give up and go do something else but i still want to give it a try

ok so for me its a t-pose and i just hate it. but one or 2 things. just the first and second game max paynes thats all i want and hey i know they would probably do well or great. but i do think the model is cool. and if you are working on something else you can do it im not that guy who wants it now. no just work on the mod you are on now but great job dude
