I'll be updating the STS part of things, need to wait for them to be approved. Don't know if this will even work still but I'll do my best with it. Given it's been dormant for some time now. Figured I'd finish up what is left. I'll also be doing TF2's. Still a lot to do with that game too.

Yes, that's true! I'll continue to talk to the rest of the team about updating the files.
Unsure. I imagine that the text files are deleted in downloads or verifying cache material.

Until it stops using the text files altogether, it may still be worth updating this masterpiece :) (provided you have the time ofc)

Also is it possible (though I haven't done research into how source games really work) that Dota checks if the text files have been modified and uses any modified files ahead of the stuff in the .vpk packs?

Hmm interesting. I'll talk to some other folks who have it installed currently. Maybe DOTA still reads the files, even though language is currently set to .vpk packs.

Ok I just tried installing the text files and they worked perfectly fine for me just now. So I don't know what's going wrong at your end but for me the text file replacement still worked

Due to Valve's current packaging system, the Pirate pack no longer works.

Incredibly sorry about that, there's nothing we can do until Valve adds .vpk modding support. Until then, there's simply nothing we can do to make the pack accessible.

Hmm really? I'll talk to the other STS mods about why that's happening. It's been awhile since I've used this pack, however, so we'll look into it.

after installing this when i got into a game it instantly crashed i had to remove it and validate my files to be able to play again

This is awesome. Saw this two days ago and downloaded it immediately. I thought it would become pretty annoying after a few games, but it didn't.

@Gravity Thanks for the positive feedback! Valve updates the DOTA section with item names and descriptions regularly, and we're constantly at work translating the items. We should have most of the items translated within a few releases.

@hayes: Good catch! I've gone ahead and submitted a fix for the Battle Fury description-- the change should make it into the next version of the Pirate Pack download, unless the next update comes hilariously soon, i.e. before it's gotten the chance to be approved by a translation admin. Thanks for pointing it out, hayes!

Theres a tiiny mistake with the Battle Fury description, it says "However, ´tis useless against ranged admirals". When it should say "However, ´tis useless with ranged admirals".
