Nice to see some Civ IV nostalgia in the form of FDR leading America.

@Wolfshanze: FDR did go to great lengths to hide his wheelchair, but the public basically knew about it anyway.
Senpapi 10. juni 2024 kl. 16:34
why he look like that though

Man you don't have a lot of US city names, Skipped a ton on the southern east coast, gulf, texas, Sanfransico, and Anchorage, a few further inland of the US and were not gonna get into New Orleans, But hey just a small gripe. Over vall top near mod, would invade another nation for oil as uncle same again. 9.8/10

Why do all the pictures show the coat of arms of the Russian Federation?

Merchant and Engineer Specialists provide a burst of their respective Great People Points whenever you adopt a new Social Policy. +2 Culture from Customs Houses and Manufacturies.

I am not able to use this ability after adopting a policy, the only other mod I use with this one is the UN headquarters mod.

It used to work till last year. Please help

Just to address ExtinctGamer's "Bruh....FDR was in a wheelchair"... FDR himself didn't want people to know he was wheelchair-bound, and went to GREAT EXTENTS to hide it... including the frequent use of steel braces for his legs (under his clothes) that allowed him to both stand and even walk (with help) without a wheelchair.

After the attack at Pearl Harbor, with his son at his side helping him, FDR WALKED down the aisle in front of both Houses of Congress which he addressed at the podium STANDING UP for the duration of his "A date that will live in infamy" speech (which you can see him clearly STANDING in videos of the speech)... so sorr "Bruh", FDR was no stranger to standing.

a little late reply, but for public photos and most of his public appearances, FDR's wheelchair was hidden. if necessary, a cane was used. while FDR suffered from the after-effects of polio, his disability waxed and waned throughout the day, making him one of the few known ambulatory disabled leaders.

Bruh....FDR was in a wheelchair :/ still subscribed :)

@ChaosBorn can do! sent you a message
Red Kaiser 9. juni 2021 kl. 19:38
@Ang31Z30 Thank you for replying, could you walk me through the steps of downloading it from civilopedia? as tho I am a complete dumbass, cause I am.

If not thanks for the advice, I love this mod
Ang31Z3r0 9. juni 2021 kl. 16:51
the older version with his previous UA is still available to download on the civilopedia
Ang31Z3r0 9. juni 2021 kl. 16:27
@ChaosBorn, you've probably already figured this out but FDR's UA changed with the latest update. now instead of the choice you used to make, whatever engineer and merchant specialists you have simply give you a boost to get those Great People faster when you choose a social policy. You dont get the chunk of gold or production anymore.

Could you please make "Brazilian Republic" with "Jair Bolsonaro"? I can help if you need. Thank you.

This mod, along with several other JFD country mods, no long show up in the Yet Another Earth giant earth map after the March 31st updates he did. Something screwed up. Mod author is nowhere to be found either after over a month.

Safe to say his mods might be dead.

Ive noticed that the latest updates have mad Roosevelt unpickable if you are not using the CP, the CP is not compatible with YNAEMP. Cant play roosevelt on Giant Earth anymore :(

I know the latest YNAEMP is compatible but the new one doesnt have the giant maps
CarlmanZ 2. dec. 2019 kl. 9:43
I never noticed that his face is just pasted on to a head like that, and I don't think I'll ever un-notice.
Mecha Sandvich 10. nov. 2019 kl. 13:36
He is standing because he did not let many people know he was crippled. Most people had no idea he was crippled until his death.
Karma 23. maj 2019 kl. 13:30
I've really enjoyed this mod; top notch. One thing I would change is to make it so the policy boost happens every 2 policies instead of 1. As is, I've found it to be rather overpowered, especially in the ancient era.
Ormr1 9. maj 2019 kl. 19:23
Does anyone know the math for the gold and production boosts?
[BFC] Star Trek 14. feb. 2019 kl. 20:16
why is Roosevelt standing? 0/10 just for that
Tikotitok 11. okt. 2018 kl. 16:12
Some feedback: Roosevelt's bonus is obscenely broken. If you take bonus production every time and go wide, you can spam settlers like nobody's business, rush wonders faster than Egypt, and frequently build faster than you can research, until you are centuries ahead your rivals. I think a good first step could be to make the production bonus not replicate to every city, but rather have it be split between them.
Aquargo 16. maj 2018 kl. 12:50
@Jesus. Roosevelt made most of his speeches standing up. He wore metal braces on his legs to achieve this. It was only in 1945 that he made his first address to Congress while seated.
plupiman 20. jan. 2018 kl. 20:22
its bugged

Bad mod,Roovelt is not in his wheelchair,ruined my emerssion 1/10
Mister Bad Guy 22. dec. 2017 kl. 23:42
For those asking why he's standing: Roosevelt was honest about the fact that he had polio, but he didn't want people thinking of him as a cripple. So whenever he was being photographed or filmed, he'd either be sitting down, or wearing leg braces to make standing possible. He even used crutches or leaned on other people to walk short distances. Photos of him in his wheelchair are surprisingly hard to find.
Branpool 21. dec. 2017 kl. 7:02
what the fuck, i thought he was a cripple lol!

Question: If I switch Ideology and choose new tenets, will I get New Deal for each one?
unitedstates105 23. sep. 2017 kl. 22:21
can you please give me the link of the video or something about the music, like when you start off, the music is just gorgious but then it ends and that's it. Please giveme the music theme for this mod.
dhammer_911 24. juli 2017 kl. 20:54
Thanks, xkPhoenix. I had that same problem, and it caused me to unsub though I liked this mod. Trying again with the fix.

This is to JFD and/or anyone else struggling for a fix. I was having the issue where if Roosevelt is an AI and adopts a policy, I get the New Deal popup when I'm not playing as him. However, there was a fairly simple fix for this.

change line 55 of JFD_AmericaRooseveltFunctions from:
"if player:IsTurnActive() then" to:
"if player:IsTurnActive() and player:IsHuman() then"

This way the AI cannot trigger the popup function and modify the popupOpen bool, and the else statement can execute properly when the human player is not Roosevelt to give the AI the bonuses as expected.

Thank you
saved my game
Nex 19. jan. 2017 kl. 19:09
@Illuminargie, yeah same thing here. It sucks it feels way too cheatlike when you're given new deals for nothing.
Junibugg 1. okt. 2016 kl. 20:20
Okay, so when I play against Roosevelt, it keeps asking me about the New Deal. I'm playing as Victoria's England. Should I stop putting Roosevelt in my game?
jorisgoedbloed 24. sep. 2016 kl. 7:44
Great mod, but as BF says it bothers that as a non- FDR-civ I still get the bonuses. Otherwise, good work!
Baboof4278 5. sep. 2016 kl. 12:57
@JFD

Can you make world war 1 america or germany? I really like playing a world war 1 game, but none of the civs have unique units that replace the great war infantry. Also, if you do make world war 1 america, can one of the unique units be a Doughboy?
Baboof4278 4. sep. 2016 kl. 11:23
I LOVE THIS MOD. THANK YOU JFD. All of your mods are great, but this is my favorite. My only complaint is that if Roosevelt is in the game, you still get the New deal bouneses, even if your not playing as him. Could you work on that?
Norton 4. juli 2016 kl. 19:49
Happy 4th of July!
EmperorOvaltine 28. juni 2016 kl. 14:38
@Rez09 Yeah, I've had the same issue in hotseat and in singleplayer when Roosevelt's in the game but I'm not playing as him. I'm pretty sure the bonus goes to whoever's player 1. Which is fine when you're playing as him but otherwise it feels like cheating when I randomly get the New Deal bonuses.
DarkKnight 23. maj 2016 kl. 8:32
@Welcome, President Washington

Did you mean House of Cards?

EnlistedDiabetus 22. maj 2016 kl. 20:40
You know, the songs for Peace and War are very similiar sounding to songs from the HOI series.
Rez09 6. maj 2016 kl. 8:28
@diamond_ten
Are you the first player? I had an issue like this in multiplayer a while ago and the bonus was going towards whoever was player 1 / host instead of me.
diamond_ten 23. mar. 2016 kl. 17:37
When I adopt a social policy as America I get the pop up, but wether I pick economy or industrialization I do not get the gold nor hammers. I also don't see the increase in GP points. Has anyone else had this issue? I am seeing this issue as America but on hotseat. Thanks
cholsy 29. feb. 2016 kl. 18:08
@BRO BRO I confirn it. I think it's a bug. I played as Victoria, setting Roosevelt as an opponent. Then I have The New Deal.
DarkKnight 20. feb. 2016 kl. 10:19
@matthew.pelzek He was often able to stand with the aid of a walker or lectern. The polio didn't cripple him entirely. During his first few elections to the presidency he was able to hide the polio 's effects to a certain extent.
