Can you provide empty card template for card types we love the game and want to add some cards while we are playing
@Sterungo I think I planned on making a Solo expansion (I love playing DBGs solo myself) but in the end I think I never got around to it. So technically an error. Thank you for pointing it out!
@Zaekier For Great Days Requiem, you need to have it in play for its win condition to trigger. With Made In Heaven, the win triggers at the end of the game. It should technically be worded "End of Game: If the main deck is empty, you win the game."
Also do you need Made In Heaven in hand for the instant win condition?
@Peter The Savage You want it as a PDF? would just a PNG work better, or?
And for Cream, each text on its own line is an individual effect. Even if you choose not to destroy a card in your own discard pile, you still get to attack. If the text said "You may destroy a card in your discard pile. IF YOU DO, ..." that would be a different story. Hope that helps!
Also, for Cream, do you *have* to destroy one of your own cards in order to activate it's attack, or can you simply attack without?
as well, you are welcome to DM me about this if you wish to have a full conversation!
We also found a lot, and I mean A LOT of stuff that needs to get reworked for balancing purposes. There was a lack of difference in vp between many different prices of cards, some cards like scary monsters were just over the top too powerful for their cost and some cards had wording that is not used in other deckbuilders and need their own explanations in the rulebook. I.E. "every enemy you've collected" what collected means and "Round Ongoing" which doesnt make sense.
Overall, really awesome and the cards really reflect what they are in the show but there are balancing issues and the instructions need to be updated a little.
1: I noticed certain cards like Wamuu are outdated in the spreadsheet. I really would like to play the cut out game so if you could update that I would be very happy.
2. "Yasuhiro Hirose" should be "Yasuho Hirose"
3. When counter attacking with an attack that affects multiple people, like with the Steel Ball, does it affect everyone in play or just the original attacker?
If I may ask another question, the card Bruno Bucciarati says, "You may shuffle up to two cards cost 7 or less from your discard pile to your deck."
Is this intended to be up to two separate cards, each costing 7 or less, or 2 cards that total up to 7 Cost?
Also 20th century boy is just bad. It fits the stand's ability but that ability is bad. Not sure what one could do about the card but it either needs to be changed to be better or replaced or something. I have never had anyone buy the card in all the games I have played and most of my play time on TTS is this game(or a variation of it)
Deck-building games don't usually have a catch-up mechanic to haul players from behind, instead doing something like in Dominion where you add dead cards to your deck to gain victory points. So yours not having one isn't especially unusual, but the mechanic of getting closer to the end of the game and also becoming stronger makes any sort of comeback tough
Reducing max hand size limits options, and while that's strategic it's anti-fun
I don't have a suggestion for changing Hamon Attacks unless it completely shifts the flow of the game from "attack your friends" to "combo off your friend's attacks to boost them slightly and gain a bigger boost on your turn," but that'd require completely rebuilding the Counter and Defense mechanics and any cards that include or reference them
Like, I legitimately enjoy your game, just...some parts could use some rebalance. Hope I’m not overstepping; you seem like you're open to feedback since you're actually checking the comments and letting us know you're going to update the game. You’re super free to ignore all of this and make your game however you want though, man.
So, small expansion on my comments / possible changes?
Cards that affect another player on their next turn should remain on the field like Lisa Lisa does. Just to sort of clean that up and make whether you have effects on you be more recognizable
Stone Free works well to clean Mudas, but it's...just, really situational and feels like it doesn't much each even in that situation. Maybe it could always destroy a 0-cost from your hand or discard, and then sometimes destroy additional cards?
There's no catch-up mechanic and if you get ahead you snowball through the antagonists and win
Stone Free is really bad. Very situationally useful and then not useful enough in that one case. If it gave any amount of power it would be significantly less bad
Emperor should probably force targeting a new opponent with each reattempt, “hey you defend 3 times or take a muda” feels a lot more mean than Rebuff Overdrive’s effect. Admittedly Rebuff Overdrive also wants to Counter but still
Jail House Lock is just…the worst?
Terunosuke Miyamoto should reveal each player's hand to check whether they have any Defenses
Hamon Attacks are against other Jojos and don't impact the Antagonists except by giving you power to maybe fight them and feels weird?
Controlling other players' turns is just…the worst?
More questions, does Gyro Zeppeli give +2 Power for each Steel Ball you control, or just draw for each Ball?
How is ???'s First Appearance - Attack supposed to work? Because it...is very confusing? Does one person choose? Do non-chosen cards keep their game text or get replaced with +2 Power?
Also, long post incoming, been playing this with 2 friends and we had a discussion about our feelings on the game after playing several matches and multiple table flips prior to reaching ???. Neither I nor my friends are game developers, and things might shake out differently with 4-6 players than 3.
