This is 1.189 version. Commo subsystem has been changed over to new commo system.

Thank you, Elfi, for taking the time to answer the questions. :)

By default it will do one run, but that can be changed. And if you obstruct the cameras they will see nothing, it is a raycast( think laser) from the camera. so windows will stop it. So the cameras work best on the outside of the ship with a 45 degree off axis from the center view of the camera un-obstructed.

Elfi Wolfe, thank you for this great tool! I have been looking for a way to catalog asteroids and other objects in a new 'sector' for later investigation.

I have two questions for you:

1) Does it shut off automatically when its done? I couldn't really tell from watching it work.

2) If I incorporate the camera structure into a larger ship, a scout frigate for example, can I obstruct the cameras (maybe building a windowed 'dome' around them for effect) or do they need to be external to the ship?

Thanks again!

thanks for your answer! is there a documentgation about the raycast function? Never heard that it is possible with camers :O

The limit is camera rayfinder only charges at 2,000meters/second. It does do a holographic scan algorythm. This means effectively it does a level 0, then level 1, then level 2, ect. so it gets an idea of the area and but can miss stuff and then it goes back and refines the scan to get smaller and smaller objects. It will not be fast enough to be a radar system.

How does this work? an is it possible to speed it up?
