The previous comments are right, this mod absolutely needs to be updated. Without it, it's much less fun.

I do want to say that so far, I have had no issues running this mod since 4.0.

That being said, if someone ever did want to make a new one, I'm sure the vanished author wouldn't mind. I would, but I have zero coding skills.

Anyone up to making a patch for this? I have zero coding skills or I would do so.

The fun part is that it's probably super easy to update the mod to work again. Everything in the "gfx" folder works fine, just need to update the files in the "common/species_classes" folder and put the updated files into "common/portrait_sets".

@ph00nix the mod is basically dead, just revive it.

Mod now no longer functional. Removes the 'BioGenesis' category and the robots one removes the 'Machine' category.

Yes. Comments contain the link to a forked version that is working. In fact, the comment right before yours is the one you want. Had you taken the time it took you to type out your comment and looked at the existing comments, you'd have saved yourself 7 hours of waiting for an answer.

@fugasas Hello! Have used your mod for some time but I was wondering if I could use a couple of the portraits for another more recently updated portrait mod.

dont think this mod works anymore, i cant seem to find any of the portraits

Can you make a version without the custom empires? Or where they aren't trying to spawn over the empires I am trying to force to spawn?

Can you please update the mod to match the current game version?

Well, you're part right and part wrong. It "works" in that everything is there and can be accessed. For example, by going into the save file and changing an existing species to use the portraits. It doesn't work in that the portraits can't be assigned to a custom empire or selected by the game when willing out the galaxy.

This is all because, while the files are there and can be accessed by the game, the structure was also changed that allows them to be available at start up.

I think this works with 3.12

No names come from some species categories not having assigned name list. A very common problem is that mod authors don't add namelists, so when an AI selects the new portrait all of their name fields are blank. I still experience this when using this mod.

I just wanted you to know I don't have that no-name bug anymore. From what I've been reading about on discussion pages too, it seems like the bug was existing outside of the mod as well so it probably wasn't even you.

only portrait work, but the race spawned by AI with theses portrait dont have name and their traits and genetics are negative and blank space/empty

It still works for me, but I am getting that bug where empires spawn with no species name.

@Lando, it stopped working for me. Not sure why. Maybe because of the patch today.

It shouldn't unless the comparability mods are patching the same thing. Then it will prioritize based on which mod files get loaded first by the game.

So have I, i like to play with a ton of empires in a game so it really breaks up repeats and brings a ton of diversity. Now these days, there are like no good species mods. The work shop is littered with anime junk

Yes with the rollback, it is still all messed up, All my portraits have no heads, Its the game. they really messed up the portraits and species appearance mechanics all together. The mod was not yet updated from what i see

If you're on PC then the update information is at the top, to the right under the icon. If you're on mobile, you need to click the dropdown and pick changelogs to see the last one.

the portraits no longer have heads, did you update the mod or not? i rolled back to 3.11 and was playing just fine from 3 days ago and yesterday now all my portraits have invisible heads

Yes, sadly, it seems they have all broken as I suspected they would be. The patch notes talked about the redesign of how the protraits will work which was enough to know they would all be broken with the update. There is nothing for Paradox to fix, it's their game, they can make any and all changes they want to it. In fact, after looking it over, this change is all kinds of good things and will make it easier for new species mods to operate and can incorporate lots of new features thanks to the new system. Just have to give the modders time to update.

It seems all portrait / species modes don´t work anymore. I hope Paradox fixes this, since these kind of modes tend to not be upgraded.
