No Problem Butcher Pete, I thank you for the offer of letting us use your mod. Perhaps our team could help you out with the issue? Speak with Ogima, and I am sure he can either help you himself, or at the very least, perhaps point you in the right direction. This is after all, good work.

@Papa Joe Stalin
While I would gladly give you permission, I cannot recommend using this mod at this time. In my own testing of the game, the current version can cause rare crashes in Waking the Tiger and - because I cannot upload changes to the Paradox Steam workshop - I cannot make changes to the mod or even to this page without deleting everything and starting from scratch. I don't know why I'm being blocked (Paradox support has not gotten in touch with me at any point) but there it is.

Starting from scratch is what I have been intending to do, but the problem - quite frankly - is that I don't have the time OR motivation to do it. Waking the Tiger actually made the combat system worse, in my personal opinion, trying to work through that is difficult.

Butcher Pete...........I am an administrator with The WWII Simulation Mod. Question Sir, we would very much if possible to use this amazing mod in our major mod, with apprpoiate Credit given to yourself and a direct link from our workshop to yours. Please let me know if this interests you, or, if you have no interest. Thank you for your time. You can see about us here: https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1326740798
Nikitian 21. apr. 2018 kl. 13:50
Just checked this: There were, apparently, some changes to the doctrines in 1.5.X, as well as to the equipment (e.g. artillery nerf), so the balance of doctrines is up in the air once more. Looking forward to the new version of this wonderful mod! :-)
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 13. mar. 2018 kl. 16:31
Any updates will be delayed until I find out why I can't upload anything to Steam.
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 13. mar. 2018 kl. 15:22
Yeah I already grabbed it awhile back. Now my problem is that attempting to upload the update to Steam is immediately causing the launcher to crash. Looking for help if anyone knows what the problem is. The updated version works fine - I've not changed anything except the versions.
cjULTRA 12. mar. 2018 kl. 13:37
Nice. I'm excited for update tweaks. Heads up: you can download your mod and open the .zip in steamapps/workshop/content. You probably know this. But just in case this expedites your godly work, I figured I'd mention it. Great, balanced mod. Thanks for the reply.

EDIT: typo
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 12. mar. 2018 kl. 11:56
Yes, the mod should still work. PDX didn't change doctrines. I plan on making some changes coming soon TM... but it's taking longer than expected because I changed harddrives in my PC so my old files were lost.
cjULTRA 12. mar. 2018 kl. 11:52
This still good despite the 1.5 changes?
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 1. mar. 2018 kl. 21:31
@Comrade Commissar If you are running other mods it's probably one of them that is overwriting it. If not, it might be the workshop. Whatever the case it should not be vanilla.
Commissar 1. mar. 2018 kl. 20:56
When I turn on the mod it doesn't alter any of the doctrines, it just has the vanilla ones.
Connan 25. feb. 2018 kl. 20:03
good stuff man
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 21. feb. 2018 kl. 12:52
@UnknownPatriot Thanks for the suggestion.

And just to note for everyone wanting more rebalances: I'll look to come back to Hearts of Iron IV after I've had time to play around with the next DLC. I am told it's finally an expansion that's supposed to make changes to the combat system and not just national focus twatery. So we'll see.
UnknownPatriot 21. feb. 2018 kl. 9:29
@Butcher Pete I would recommend adding that the mod will work despite the out of date symbol onto the mods description in order to help curb some of the messages asking about updating it.
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 8. okt. 2017 kl. 18:58
No achievements are compatible with mods in Paradox games.
WilhelmCarstein 8. okt. 2017 kl. 12:04
is this achievement compatible?
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 28. sep. 2017 kl. 16:33
@Zodiark69 This isn't directed only at you. I'm just tired of getting spammed by it. Anyone sees that I've been online on Steam in the past week and I'll get private messages from random ass people complaining about the land doctrine mod. I'm tired of it. No one has paid me to make this mod and since I haven't played this game in forever I personally get nothing from it.

I hope that changes but Paradox doesn't seem too interested in adding anything meaningful to the game. Likely it is more profitable to churn out a HOI V instead.
The Touhou Player 28. sep. 2017 kl. 13:16
Sheesh mate. No need to get snippy. if it wasn't on the front page of comments, I most likely didn't see it. Just annoyed at seeing the red ! on there was all.
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 28. sep. 2017 kl. 13:05
I've said this multiple times but apparently I need to say it again: Paradox has not touched doctrines since beta, as such there is no reason for me to update the mod. The mod loader might say "out of date" but this is just bollocks which requires me to go through the entire mod and change dates and mod version each time Paradox makes a minor change to the game: even if that change has nothing to do with doctrines. When Paradox decides to actually make a meaningful change to the game where I can actually start having fun again I'll be back.

Cool your tits.
The Touhou Player 28. sep. 2017 kl. 7:52
And that feel when it's not updated. D:
Samu 31. juli 2017 kl. 5:36
I will update this by my self if he doesnt do the job.
taylorj4437 24. juni 2017 kl. 21:44

Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 11. juni 2017 kl. 18:21
@msslupu Absolutely. Fire away.
msslupu 9. juni 2017 kl. 23:38
I was wondering if BICE can use some parts for inspiration from your mod.. especially the grand battle plan and mass assault sides. I am part of the development team and we will give credit where is due.
Ogima 24. maj 2017 kl. 18:04
@Butcher Pete - Understood and Thank you very much sir! ;)
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 24. maj 2017 kl. 17:41
@Ogima Apologies, I've been busy lately and haven't been online. Yes, you may integrate my mod into yours so long as you make a note of where/who that part came from. :)
Ogima 14. maj 2017 kl. 1:29
@Butcher Pete - This is such great work and was wondering if you would allows us to use it would our mod sir? http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=925104040
Magni 3. maj 2017 kl. 9:08
Checking again, they even get doctrine effects anyway. Soyeah, simple copy-paste job. Thanks for answering my comments, though.
Magni 3. maj 2017 kl. 9:05
Yeah, I just copy-pasted and integrated your mod files into the KR ones. Seems I both get your tree and the Militia/Garrison unit types that way, but the doctrines don't affect those anymore. Shouldn't really be a problem in my experience, militias aren't really used much and garrisons are mostly good for occupation duty.
Cuddlefission 2. maj 2017 kl. 10:36
KR replaces the Land Doctrines tree on account of them adding Militia and Garrison units as dedicated battalion types. Removing that file from the KR archive will allow this mod to function, but I don't know if it will affect those two units (either at all, or in a balanced way). It wouldn't be a massive ordeal to tweak to suit, though.
Magni 1. maj 2017 kl. 6:00
...fuck. I just tried it out. KR, KR Music and your mod, and it gives me the default unmodded doctrine trees. Welp, gonna try finding a wayaround that.
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 30. apr. 2017 kl. 18:49
@Magni I believe it is? Kaiserreich only changes events and national focuses I thought, so it should work.
Magni 30. apr. 2017 kl. 15:31
Is this one compatible with Kaiserreich? I like the changes and would really like to try it out.
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 29. apr. 2017 kl. 11:32
@Dr.Absinthius Because of the power of artillery and the fact that SF applies to the entire army. This means that the doctrine is great for every nation regardless of their division designs.

MW has always been considered second best overall, but absolute best if you are Germany (because Germany starts with tank tech and has armored divisions at the start). For nations such as Mexico, Greece, or Poland, however, MW will not actually fully benefit your army until much later in the game. In most multiplayer matches (in matches where there is no agreement not to war until a certain date that is) you will die as a minor nation if you attempt to take MW over SF.

In my balance mod I change MW and SF the least. Most of the balancing is buffing Mass Assault and Grand Battleplan. Most of the changes to MW and SF were moving stats up and down so that their power increases were more gradual than spiking at the beginning.
Dr.Absinthius 28. apr. 2017 kl. 14:56
i have played Hoi4 for almost 300 hours, but i have never considered Superior Firepower as the strongest doctrine. To me, it was always Mobile Warfare, if the nation could afford the amount of Tanks necassary. Why do you think S.F. is stronger ?
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 15. apr. 2017 kl. 14:13
@Farsight It was when I made this mod. I can't say that now, as I've not played the game recently to experience the current meta. Though as far as I understand, PDX has not changed much in regards to combat.
NeinDao 15. apr. 2017 kl. 4:10
in vanilla superior firepower is the strongest?
Nikitian 9. apr. 2017 kl. 14:35
Ah, okay. Sorry for troubling you. Either way, the mod works very well as it is, and you're in your right not to want to change it. Also, thank you for the offer - unfortunately, it's not so uncommon these days for modders to capriciously deny others use of their work (even with proper credits given, etc).
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 9. apr. 2017 kl. 12:25
@Nikitian "ACTUALLY" you'll find that I changed a lot of the doctrines to cover marines, mountaineers already. So if Road to 56 does not modify LandDoctrine.txt then it should work without a problem and there is no compatibility issue.

Compatibility does not mean "modify other mods;" compatibility means "does this shit break other shit."

And no, I'm not about to start modding my mod for other mods.

If anyone wants to incorporate my mod into their mod, however, they can do so so long as they give me credit for the land doctrine part.
Nikitian 9. apr. 2017 kl. 5:00
Sorry for "nitpicking", I absolutely love your mod, just trying to help make it even better. :-)
Nikitian 9. apr. 2017 kl. 4:59
@Butcher Pete Actually, yes, you could make your mod more compatible with "Road to 56" (and perhaps some others). It should be noted that here it is not the usual meaning of "compatibility" that is implied - specifically, "Road to 56" (or, at least, "Expanded Technologies &etc" that I've used extensively) doesn't modify LandDoctrine.txt; it is that there are several new unit types added (basically, more variations upon the "Mountaineers/Marines"), which can sometimes not be covered by the doctrine techs - e.g. the Mass Assault branch opening tech specifically lists each and all leg infantry units. Addressing those effects via unit categories instead would've solved this problem, at least (potentially some others would remain, such as new units without proper categories or utilizing newly introduced ones, where you obviously cannot help further compatibility, but this far you could improve this matter).
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 8. apr. 2017 kl. 16:02
@Tavaris Can I "make" my mod compatible with another mod? No. My mod is as simple as it can be. I modify one main file - LandDoctrine.txt. It would literally be impossible for me to make my mod more compatible.

Sadly, modding in this game is very limiting - the only way to fully combine mods is to make a single mod with all the features you want. Sadly, getting a bunch of modders together to agree to work together is more difficult than you would think.
DizelUral 6. apr. 2017 kl. 11:18
Hy i yust ask that can you make this mod to compatible width "Road to 1956" mod wich have more special forces, nothing else incompatible yust the russian land doc width the new special forces. Or yust tell my how to do it.
Constable 2. apr. 2017 kl. 19:37
Ah, thanks for the reply.
Butcher Pete  [ophavsmand] 2. apr. 2017 kl. 19:23
@Constable Thank you, I'll add it to the incompatible list. If I remember correctly from the last time I looked at the Expert AI mod code, he messes with land_doctrine.txt. Since he does that, his mod will always overwrite mine - being that his mod is alphabetically first.
Constable 2. apr. 2017 kl. 14:50
A mod this conflicts with is Epert AI 2.0. Both mods function fine seperate from each other but when loaded together this mod does not appear to function correctly.
DizelUral 5. mar. 2017 kl. 13:50
Ok thx the answear.
